The Oscars: 2024's 96th Academy Awards, 7:00pm March 10th ABC

imo someone hoped no one would check the envelope

if russia influenced the outcome does it matter?

Well the producers and other show people knew something was wrong. They probably saw the correct envelope on table.

lmao, it's so funny in a sad way if you go back and watch the acceptance speech by the La La Land crew.

The 2nd dude was going in on his speech completely oblivious to all the panic behind him, "This is for all the dreamers. The people who inspired me to reach for the stars. The dreams we dream today will narrate our lives tomorrow." meanwhile they're snatching the awards up behind him.

That was his big moment, man. Dude had been practicing that line all night.

did they have all the lal la land promo voiceover stuff ready to go too?

like if it was an accident you would think they would have prepared moonlight promo anyway right?

^ there are probably so few people who actually know the winners. They don't want stuff leaking or having people bet on the winners. They must have stuff ready for everybody.

:lol La la land was fantastic for such a young Director and still won a **** ton of awards, don't cry for me Argentina.

but there are ppl  that have to know right?

and those ppl let la la land get essentially their moment at moonlights expense

I wouldn't consider being humiliated and thinking you won, only to have them take away your awards and give them to somebody else as "having their moment".

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Why would a company intentionally make themselves look incompetent? It was the very end of an award show, where there is no incentive for them to do something like this. If it was the first award, with the intent of drawing in viewers it might be plausible. But there are screen shots of him having the wrong envelope. Seems like just a mistake, and I don't understand why people want to make it something bigger than that.

My question is...did they have two separate envelopes announcing best actress, or was Beatty given the same envelope Leo presented Emma Stone with?

Two separate envelopes, Emma had her's the entire time.

humiliated? really? its not taking away your award, it wasnt yours at all

what it does do, is give those ppl who support la la land (im going to say white people) the satisfaction of seeing the movie "win" at the expense of moonlight

as far as the company making themselves look incompetent, they kno all will be forgotten but they know what they did

like has this ever happened and its to the black movie

thats why ppl are making it a big deal

the goal could have been simply to ruin moonlights shine

You're reaching.

Not everything is a race issue.

They handed him the wrong envelope. It doesn't have to be a huge conspiracy to make white people happy for La La Land getting more shine. How is going on the stage and then being told nah you didn't win good for anyone? If the conspiracy is true then who planned this out?

maybe it was a white person who just wanted to steal moonlights shine

moonlight doesnt get to have that pro black moment on stage

Stop it.

Calling trivial things like these race issues takes credibility away from the real ones.

Moonlight still got their moment though man :lol

Honestly think it was a huge screw up,nothing malicious. Nothing happened when 12 years a slave why on best picture a few years back so I don't know why they'd why on ant to sit on Moonlight :lol. Doesn't make sense why they'd make themselves look bad for nothing.

Moonlight got the W at the end of the day
