Is this joint gonna be "limited" like console releases in the past on launch day? I'm looking to just go to Best Buy on Friday morning and scoop it. Will that be possible or will camping be needed? :\

Mine was $435.37
$435.50 for mine.
Where in NY did you order yours?
Damn. I was just at Best Buy earlier today and they had a sign set up letting people know that they were doing a midnight launch event for it but no one was camping yet. Maybe they just aren't getting any non-pre order consoles . Or maybe dudes arent trying to camp in these 25 degree lows we're about to have this week .People started camping last Thursday & Friday people were posting pics on here, NEOGAF, and reddit.
Console wise, no. Never been a fan of their mobile UI either.*Starts at 04:50.00*
Not really sure how I feel about it, it's def better than the XMB - although it still retains some of the XMB feel, but don't see anything 'awe - inspiring' either. I wish Sony would take a lil dive with a next gen type of UI too. I understand simply, fluid and functional is easier, but you can still make a beautiful design with great transition simply, fluid and functional. I was at least hoping it looked far better than Xbox One UI, which is nice, but just a shadow of Metro UI. Then again, Sony has never been known for their great UI. Call it nitpicking, but as a graphic designer, I expect better things from a company who builds on design like Sony.
Hopefully we can change the background color like we could on PS3, or have an animated background or something, idk
never been known for great UI?
the xmb is the perfect controller interface, the ps3's os had some issues like loading the friend side and all those extras they added after the ps3's release but the xmb design itself is still ideal
dont know if youre like those people on gaf who keep using the word "uninspired" when they cant even describe "inspired", hopefully not
that other machine makes no sense, its just metro which is a garbage attempt at being something different from ios and android
Trophies on the PlayStation 4 are coming back with a twist. Sony's new console won't just store your achievements—it'll tell you the rarity of each Trophy you earn.P
Nine Cool Facts About The PS4's Interface
We watched the PlayStation 4's interface in action this morning at Sony's big review event, and we got to see some of the cool little… Read…
We saw the new feature in action today during a demo of the PS4's system interface at a big press event tied to the console's Friday launch.P
The system will list each Trophy a player has earned and will classify them as common, rare, very rare, or ultra rare. Trophies are still also designated as bronze, silver, gold and platinum to denote the difficulty in obtaining them. Rarity, however, is a dynamic quality that will be calculated online across the PlayStation userbase. A Trophy might prove rare because it is tough to get, or it might be rare because few people have bothered to play the game it's in. Rarity can change over time.P
As best we can tell, the rest of the PS4's Trophy system matches what is on the PS3 and Vita. Earning Trophies still fills a progress bar that gradually levels up the numerical rank of the person who earned them. Trophies still have to sync online. They can still be earned offline.P
The PS4 Trophy interface lists Trophies that the player has earned on PS4, PS3 and Vita.P
We will have plenty more about the PS4 as the week progresses, including a review of the console on Wednesday morning at 9am ET.
Tax x shipping was only $40 for meIt's $400.00.

I dont get why ppl camp, for the longest time you were able to pre order in multiple places. Some places you didnt even have to put money down. I guess ppl just like camping, being able to talk games with other ppl in 40-30 degree weather.
its not uninspired, it building off something that is inspired and theres still nothing like it, this talk of "uninspired" makes me think of people looking for unnecessary clutter, there's a reason xmb tested better response times than any console interface this gen, it doesnt need transitions, the whole thing is one seamless experience - its basically one big fluid transitionConsole wise, no. Never been a fan of their mobile UI either.
The XMB is good, simple and functional, it does lack excitement though. What I'm saying about the PS4 UI is that Sony could have done something better, we were expecting something - next gen. Since the UI has been behind closed doors except for a few pictures thats dated back from February, you either had two thoughts of the UI, either it was something amazing or Sony wasn't too keen about it. I think the reason why people are calling it uninspired is because it's borrowing technology that is 8 years old, the XMB. That's uninspiring.
When I think of inspiring, I think of fluid, smooth, colors, animations (transitions). The way menus pop-up, slide out, appear, the animated effect of how it happens, the sound effect (tone) of it. The emotion or feel behind it from the user when the action takes place. I want it to be visually pleasing, fun and have you just messing around with menus for the hell of it because it looks cool. Still, keeping it all user friendly and intuitive. I like the UI of the Playstation Store, it's just laggy due to the OS footprint of running the app.
Again, there is nothing wrong with the XMB for PS3, but it is dated, souless (lol) and non customizable if your borrowing to much of it for the PS4. Hopefully this UI is a different and progresses over time, and you can customize it to your liking. I know Xbone UI is Metro based, and I hate Metro, but at least you can customize the blocks/colors to your liking and to what YOU want to see on Xbone. I'm not sure this can be done with the PS4 based off the vids, I could be wrong. I read on GAF that you can't change the blue background of the UI, you can't add a picture either, hopefully that's false.
