The Official Tennis Thread (Vol. 2024 US Open)

Looks like news of Roger skipping the Davis Cup isn't that surprising, but apparently he's also skipping Miami.

Genie's game is too red-line... always going for broke.  Hard to stay consistent.  Her partnership with Sam will need time, so lets not judge her yet.

I've said this before, but I still think Genie has some of the aesthetically unpleasing strokes around.

I dunno what it is... her footwork... her balance... her contact point... her follow-thru.  Simona's, IMO, is much more balanced.

Genie is really the type of player that could use a real off season to improve her game. Sam is a good coach but he can only do so much during the course of a season.

welcome back bro

you went MIA
Hey proto! Nice to see you.

Yeah, school's keeping me busy lately haha.

I haven't sat down and watched a good match in a while...miss that feeling.

Welp, Rafa loses in Rio. It's his first loss on clay in a semifinal in 12 years. Incredible match point by Grand Slam Fognini.

And to Fog of all people... ugh.

I didn't watch the match, but Rafa just hasn't looked like himself... hasn't in a long time.  Physically seems ok, but the head... seems like a mental thing.  Confidence isn't there.  Hope he can snap out of it.

Rafa has plenty of time to get it right. The season is still very early and he has over two months until the French Open.

I think the injuries are finally catching up to Rafa. These random losses to nobodies are giving guys confidence too. The French Open shall be interesting this year.

Short recovery time (3:18 AM) played a major factor in Rafa's demise in Rio. The writing was on the wall but no excuses, the general rule is that it's nearly unacceptable for Nadal to lose on a clay surface.

Rafa's stunning loss to Berdych was perplexing. Had virtually no answer for Tomas' serve out wide. Berdych was bullying Nadal off the court.

Edit: Rafa loses at Roland Garros and we have a lot of physical and mental matters to deliberate over.

Sloane is reaching Alexandra Stevenson levels right now. Her career might be over if she doesn't fix things quickly

Am I the only one watching Federer display godly tennis against Djokovic in the Dubai final? Federer joins the 9,000+ aces club as well as 7 trophies in Dubai.

Caught the last few games... Very impressive stuff. Fed was clutch when he needed to save those break points.

Vika loses to Safarova in the Doha final.

Nishikori's quietly climbing up in the rankings. He's at a career-high #4 right now. That puts him less than 300 points away from World No. 3 Nadal...

Indian Wells should be really interesting this year.

Fluff piece propaganda. He should retire and leave the game far far away....

JK...sort of.. :p
