The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

Hmmm......I am still thinking even though I am finally shooting RAW that I am not doing something right. I've pulled some info from a RAW file but not to the degree of how you had it. Also when I recover shadows, I get tons of grain which almost makes the photo not worth editing. All that was done in Lightroom right? I only use photoshop but refuse to believe I can't edit RAW files as good.

There's always noise reduction but then again that only goes so far.

the camera's dynamic range prowess is going to determine if you're able to recover the data from those highlights and shadows. what are you shooting with?

^^^^I gave a Canon Mark 3. I mean unless I am just not on the newest and latest, I am sure my camera should edit a little more clear than I think it should. I am mostly talking about shooting in pretty harsh conditions with light going down but I feel like my camera is not capable of that kind of shooting and retaining info as well as being grain free.

In Lightroom there is a feature under details called Luminance. Turn it up somewhat, it Helps smooth out the grain. Hope this helps.

Damn, that's a game changer. I might need something like that down the road.

Just rented a Sigma 24mm for a week, hopefully to jumpstart me getting back to using my camera again and contributing here.

Have had their clip for a while now and stand 100% behind it! And this thing is literally revolutionary! Been waiting for someone to put out something like this, I legit carry two cameras to avoid swapping lenses...lol

Whats the easiest way to upload photos to NT? I just got flickr, but i cant figure out how to post them on here?

Try embedding by pasting the embed code in "source" mode. Or use the image address in html code. "img src"

A couple options.

Go to the photo you want to post, I'll use my last photo for example.

Click on the download images button on the bottom right but click view all sizes. Select the size you want and copy that image link.

You can then post regularly using the image tags [*img]link here [/img] (but take out that first asterisk.) When NT prompts you to do that upload thing just cancel it and post it.

Second option is to click on the share button, select embed, and copy and paste the link.
