- Kids like loud colorways on shoes today
- Lebron can't wear the six meridians for example as they are not team colors.
- Previous reason is what Nike has yet to find a balance between in terms of releasing both simple and louder CW's
- I doubt lebron sits in Nike meetings telling them not to release certain CW's or maybe he does

theres probably more reasons, and its been this way since the LeBron 8, the amount of unreleased 8's is shocking if i'm someone at Nike and thinking how many of these shoes would have sold. Half the time Nike has no problems making a good model its really the colorways that end up deciding if the shoe sells or not.

LeBron and his crew do have a big say so on what releases. Nike had to convince coerced LBJ that having his sneakers on NIke ID was best for business, especially after the flame out in the 2011 Finals and the success of the 8.

Most of those PE's are made for himself and his family and friends only. Even Tinker Hatfield confirmed when he was designing for 'Bron, his friends were throwing ideas at him like crazy to the point where he was pissed off.

The loud colors are cool. I mainly get annoyed at the dope team PE's he wears not getting released to the public (See pics below).. Of course as a Nike Athlete it's a given that he's gonna get some colors for himself.'

Something about the CONSTANT use of PEs by signature athletes rubs me the wrong way. It's almost like another symptom of the "ME ME all about ME" generation. That's one of the reasons no one will ever touch MJ in that respect. The dude did everything in (what are now called) GRs that everyone could buy. You could lace up a pair of black/red 14s and go shoot your own "last shot" in your driveway or at the park.

You know I had to rep for this one because it changed my viewpoint on this. Sometimes when I wear my kicks for ball I do like to use my imagination and think I'm that person and just wanna channel them. Sounds very childish but it's inspiring in a way that's how I see it. Plus when you have lets say the NSRL and let's say Lebron wins a memorable playoff game in them it's almost like you have a part of that. Just like how the XIV "Last Shot" is probably one of the best shoes to have for someone who wants to have a piece of MJ history besides just the sneakers if that makes sense. It puts you in another mind state while wearing them both on and off the court.

Ehhhh. MJ did have a couple of his own PEs. Also, his team members stayed with special colors including Reggie miller, Kevin Martin, Jesus shuttlesworth, joe Johnson, mike bunny, etc.

I still want them kings 12s Martin wore and the wizard 11s MJ wore during warmups.

Also, a lot of the ranting about PEs is unwarranted for a lot of the colors. Yes, certain colors aren't mimicable on id but a lot are with the exception of small details like an outlined swoosh or whatever. So many more possibilities now that these shoes are on Id.

JB wouldn't dare put any retro on id like nike does with its current sig shoes.

I'm pretty grateful in that context.

That's a very good point, colorways have "exploded" since his day.  

We get more "launch" colorways of shoes, than MJ had all year

Also, while looking through the thread I saw some pairs have five zoom pods and some have four? My store has basically every mens pair except for the Trillion Dollar Man colourway and I would like to know which pairs have five pods.

Honestly, this is my favorite picture of them I've seen.  

Makes them look very "tuxedo" like with the white/black, very clean with the vibrant sole contrast.

They all have four pods, the non-colored  (Not pink/orange/volt) "pod" isn't really a zoom pod, it's basically a fake.  And the "6" was on the sole of the original launch colorways and now it is "OH" on one sole, "IO" on the other for "OHIO,"  that was Nike's "change" when they got around to it to replace the "6."
