THE OFFICIAL NIKE KOBE FOOTWEAR THREAD: RIP LEGEND 1978-2020. MAMBA FOREVER | 8-24-24

This is exactly why I never liked when the NBA granted the liberty to players to wear whatever shoes they wanted during the last decade. I dread seeing divergent uniform and shoe colors. A Celtics green uniform with red-based shoes doesn't make sense nor does it look right. It would have only been right if the uniform code mandated predominantly green shoes with a Celtics uniform if they wanted to give players the freedom to be expressive because the archaic uniform code mandated either predominantly white or black shoes with some of the team colors on them.

Personally I love it. Looks cleaner when its a white or black show or team colors of course. Personal fav is white unis with solid team color shoes but shoes that dont match the uni at all I dig also. Just looks cool. There are some that are eyesores though, like JB with red Kobes and a green uni.

They all get lost in the flood of multiple players wearing different type of shoes. It's not like everyone on Boston wearing one color pair of kicks and 1 players is wearing something far out. It's everyone and for that... it don't bother me personally. I don't know how many sneaker deals were had back then(prob not alot) but what the change has brought along with more players getting deals through the years is allowing them to be creative, and let players use their kicks as a reflection of themselves

I mean, the protos don’t look that bad with the uniform.

It's ironic that Michael Jordan got flak by the NBA for that pair of black/red Jordan 1 in the '80s because they deemed it didn't conform to the uniform code that shoes had to be predominantly either black or white with some team color. It seemed more red than black to them when it was pretty much a 50/50 ratio between both colors to most peoples' eyes.

It's evident that marketing and commercialism by shoe companies became highly relevant decades after that fiasco over Jordan's shoes that the NBA has been allowing players the freedom to wear whatever they want. But it opened the floodgates for stupidity with mismatched crap for the wrong sake of being expressive.

Jaylen Brown embodied what I've been saying for years that it was asinine to wear shoes that didn't match a uniform under the freedom to wear whatever policy.

Jordan Clarkson was another example of being stupid with it when he wore some Jordan VII Olympic with a yellow Lakers uniform. Why the f did he choose to wear white with navy/red/silver/copper gold shoes with a yellow uniform? And he more than likely had the crappy 2012 version too.

There's a big difference between being creative and being dumb.

Being creative is predicated on colorways that are symbiotic with the uniform and shoes, whereas being dumb is wearing shoes that don't match with the uniform at all like a couple of examples I elaborated on above.

It would have been ideal and looked more appropriate if those Kobe VI were predominantly green with either a little black or white with that Celtics uniform. That would have been the right way to take advantage of the lenient uniform policy instead of wearing some mismatched crap like that. The Celtics never had red in their storied history.

You sound like a real fun person.

Hey when you got different sneakers and don't have a deal..... why won't you use your sneakers.... ie Jordan Clarkson and other players.

The creatives don't have to match.... as we've seen the likes like Derozon having his daughter design a pair. Hey they have the freedom to do so they gonna do it.

And with jaylen.. is it that green and red don't match. Cuz we def know of a specific pair of Kobes with those colors.... and they predominantly green lol.

To all my guys in here that play basketball… performance wise They Nike Zoom GT cut surpasses every Kobe 1-11… I finally got a chance to play in it. They pretty much feel like all the Kobe’s combined into a super shoe.

I always believed that that was supposed to be the next Kobe NXT if Kobe's contract with Nike never ended. It just looks like a Kobe sneaker.

Woahh! I’m not questioning your knowledge but damn that’s a powerful statement. Geez! You got me looking now.

Do it. #yolo When it comes to stuff like that I always ask myself this: How disappointed would I be if I didn't see this right now and then I come back 2 days later and the auction has ended and I missed out for this price? Would it just be "Oh well, I can use the money somewhere else. That was too much. I was tripping"? Or would it be "SONUVA..."?
