UD was content with not ever seeing the court and being on the end of the bench. He didn’t want playing time.

Everyone's blaming the artists but it could also be the budget and timeline for these statues. Crafting something lifelike isn't an ancient secret lost to the ages, it's more likely teams aren't interested in the cost. Great art isn't cheap or quick. Pay competent artists their value, with a reasonable timeframe for commission given, and you should be able to get something that looks like what you want it to.
