The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Night

There's are gonna be a bunch of children coming who are going to try and tell us the greats of the early 2000's weren't actually that good.

the pace was slow and there was no spacing
so comparing box score number is extra useless.

We must educated them.

I've actually warmed to Kobe as time has gone one and, i was probably too harsh on him when he was playing.

but his death and the general popularity of personality / playstyle has exaggerated his legacy to a crazy degree.

there is no reasonable argument that he's a top 5 player of all time.
let alone the GOAT.

it's absurd on its face.

Yep. Sooner or later the 2000s will be the plumbers and carpenters.

Kobe is Top 5 where? Surely not Top 5 in the history of the NBA
Sure, Jemele.

Folks ain't ready for the Steph vs. Kobe convo. .

A lot of childhood feelings would get hurt.

You try and start this nonsense every year and every year I shut you down.

Wardell:

Playoffs - 27/5/6 on 45/40/89
9x All NBA (4x All-First Team)
9x All Star
2x Scoring Champ
1x Steals Champ
1x ASG MVP
2x League MVP
1x Finals MVP
4x Champ

Their resumes aren't close, y'all keep trying to make this and Magic comparisons a thing and it's not.

Kobe is Top 5 where? Surely not Top 5 in the history of the NBA

His resume is as accomplished as most of the other players in the top 5 (MJ, Bron, Kareem, Duncan, Magic). Realistically he's probably 5 or 6 depending where you slot Duncan. What he was able to do on both ends of the floor at an elite level warrants the discussion. Y'all gotta stop the cap.

Even? What has KD done that Steph hasn’t?

Back to back FMVP’s, win more than 1 championship as the number #1 option.

At no point in his career has Steph looked like he could be the best basketball player in the league. KD has.

Peak KD > Peak Steph.

Everybody talks about Kobe’s defense but don’t talk about the 08 finals
