The Official NBA post.

its all ive been thinking at work the past little while
pimp.gif
the nba season

im AMPED to get it all going. this thread is gonna be in quadruple digit page numbers before its all said and done.

I would be much more excited about this season if Dish Network wasn't still working out their contract with the NBA. I have tried like three times to orderthe league pass to no avail.

I think Chris Paul's gonna take the MVP this year. Celtics over Hornets in the Finals.

? for all the NBA heads. Does Kevin Martin have a chance to be a superstar in the L and be mentioned with the likes of Melo, CP3, and DWade.

I watched the Kings play a couple games last year and he really doesn't look like someone who could get 25-28 a night, but he just seemed to score at will.

Ehh, Kevin Martin will put up 20+ easily because he's on a bad team.
He CAN be an all-star, but I don't think he'll ever be a superstar.

Don Nelson could have a new deal in place which will keep him at the helm with the Golden State Warriors as soon as next week, Marc Stein from ESPN.com is reporting.

Nelson and the Warriors have had some serious negotiations in recent days.

Stein also reports that guard Stephen Jackson is also in line to receive an extension around the same time as Nelson, as Jackson has repeatedly indicated in interviews this month with various reporters.

The Warriors have publicly acknowledged this month's talks with Jackson but declined comment Friday when asked about a possible extension for Nelson.

I'll agree that Nellie is important to our team. His philosophy has been instilled and the players bought into it. He is a reason why we were able to go to the playoffs in 2007.

But, let's also look at the other end of the spectrum. He is the reason also why it's very, very, very likely that we'll never win a championship. His philosophy, style, hardheadedness, and defensive mind (or lack there of) is a big reason why we'll never win.

His philosophy and style will work to a certain degree but when the team has us overmatched and whatnot, Nellie's response to that is to go smaller? And if that doesn't work, he's going to go even smaller? I don't think so.

His hardheadedness is also tied into his philosophy and style. He won't change. He can't conform. He refuses to. Example is when we're vs Utah, Nellie opts to play smaller players? He opts to sacrifice defense for offense but we get crush, manhandled, obliterated inside. It's not even just vs Utah, it's on a nightly basis. A rebuttal for that is the "we are one of the top scorers in the paint" line but that's due in large part to our fast breaking. Another example of Nellie's hardheadedness is him only have an 8 man rotation. Our style of offense takes a lot out of you. It's designed to be high energy and Nellie only plays 8 guys? This is a big reason why we were dead tired at the end of last season. We couldn't close it out.

His defensive mind is also another reason why we'll never win. If we don't play any defense or at least have some accountability, we'll never play defense good enough to win.

2 Things.
First I agree with you, no team will win a chip by playing Nellie ball.
Secondly, they can't let go of Nellie unless they have a coach that they all ready have in place.
If they just pick a random guy, they'll go back to 25-35 games won a year.

Is Keith Smart ready to be the coach?

Maybe it's just speculation on my part, but all this time, I've been hearing that Keith Smart is being groomed for the head coaching joband this and that. I would think he's ready. He's been "groomed" for two years now.

Where's Leon's?

I also would think Keith Smart is ready. He's been there for a while, he knows the players and it's not like some random no-name stepping in. He seemsto command respect from the players based on what I've been hearing about him.
