The Official Military Thread. Vol 1

thats right.

its up to the individual to understand that and make that move instead of chasing meaningless medals and awards that amount to zero $$$$ on the outside
older I get this statement right here is facts.

for a GS position?

no.

You don't think [emoji]128173[/emoji] It's about who know?

I was talking to this cat who bout to take a GS14 position with the Navy. He's with SIGINT (or whatever the Navy calls it). He was retiring as a Chief and finessed a new reporting position from his GS15 supervisor. The GS told him exactly how to frame the Resume'.

Not to say the hiring process hasn't changed but it's almost the same if you're illuminated.

I say that's great. Retire with E7 pay and move into a 100K position in th DMV.

Bingo. It really does help to know folks.

Had a chief retire from my office. 2 months later same chief is back in the office as a GS11.

Trying to set up the exact same thing for myself but I gotta make CWO. LDO, Warrents and officers seem to be in the front line for the higher GS jobs.

"all about"?

no.

**** no.

could it help?

sure, it might
it might not
it depends on SEVERAL factors that dont involve knowing someone

but im in it
you're on the outside looking in, telling me how it all works

It becomes about who you know.

What you have (an investigation).

Who you are (your hustle).

But I'm not hating. One day I will be there.

Back to initiations
This dude spot on.....

I've been all 3... 15 years experience

Troop

Contractor

And now GS

Its really all about who you know....some jobs ARE posted just for certain individuals.

Just like the wall street suits make paths for thier younger college buddies to slide in a position.

The GS and contract system is the same.

Of course these candidates have to be eligible on paper and work experience wise,

but lemme tell you....the GS and Contract system are indeed very corrupted when it comes to people hiring and promoting thier buddies and relatives

with no experience or real credentials.

I see it everyday.

Thats why the GS system is filled with so many incompetent people who don't know how to do thier jobs or just too lazy.

You would be surprised at some of the people who get put in these GS10 and up positions.....

applying this year? good luck!

My 3rd application. I was on shore and I know it wasn't helping me. Being out here in 5th fleet should help along with more numbers at this command.

Don't see the big fuss of a person in their 40s with 20+ years of ascending experience in and with the government getting a GS 11-12 position. I mean... okay? Doesn't seem like some big get.

I cant passed on a position in my own office by another guy who was best buds.  Then they try to make it better by saying he apply for this job that pays 5,000 more less we'll make sure you get

The one you are in but Air National Guard out here is pretty easy to get into.

Are you looking for Active duty?

Lol. You don’t want no problems. Marines might take you but it would be like starting over. You’d have to go through boot camp and E2.

Had a buddy was a specialist in the Army and got out. Went into the Marines. Met him in MOS school.

Hopefully I hear something soon about if i was selected to officer cadet school.
Board meets today through the 12th.. just praying
Its been a long two years trying to apply from germany..

What branch?

I'm so miserable at my current command. I'm a Navy O-3 working at a joint billet and my boss is an Army O-5. Everything from how they carry themselves to the Army decision making process is different. I don't know how you Army guys deal with this stuff; I feel for you. I got another 16 months. Pray for me
