This shouldnt be overlooked. Its not that huge of a feat.

Asia has a dedicated industry towards comics that the US and the West cant compare to. Over there the comics come first, other medium adaptions are secondary.

A lot of series get a big sales boost when the series end, especially if the series isn't too long. People go out and buy the whole series. The movie probably helped a lot too.
