THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || MEH

This.

Now I'm not going to sit here and act like I expected 4-1 and a defense that would ranked 8th in points allowed through 5 weeks.

But anyone who wasn't doing basic ESPN analysis or just hating could see the Cowboys wouldn't be as bad on D as last year nor would they be a bottom 6 team like people were predicting.

Dudes in the NFL predictions thread were talm bout we were going to give up 500 points, contend for the #1 pick, dudes were saying we were so desperate we had to sign Rolondo McClain, dudes been clowning us picking Olinemen for so long, especially the Fredrick pick(what center is better than him right now?). Look at us now.

Last year we were in a completely new scheme, 9/10 that is always shaky for teams their first year, 70% of the D was hurt, Sean Lee went down middle of the season as always, just so many things went wrong. And we still finished 8-8.

This year, Sean went down before camp and they were able to plan accordingly, and right now our Linebackers have been beasting no matter who's on the field because they've all put in that work from day one instead of us scrambling to prepare someone because Lee went down. The Line is imposing their will because of all those first round investments and helping mask the D's problems also. The offensive line alone should've hushed all those doom and gloom Predictions. Anyone who watches football knows just how much having a good line helps all phases of the game.
Good point. They got a good look at all the LBs from everyone getting decent reps and a chance to pick the system up early. Seems like they have a better grasp for things this year, even Bruce Carter before the injury. Marinelli had whoever they called up from the practice squad, or brought off the street, playing decent on the D-line, but the rest of those dudes were so discombobulated last year. It was like they were in the middle of playing games while ducking machine gun fire the way dudes was dropping from injuries.

30 for 30 Shorts: The Great Trade Robbery

In 1989, the largest trade in NFL history sent Herschel Walker from Dallas to Minnesota. The Vikings ruined what looked to be a budding dynasty by selling the farm for Walker. Dallas became the team of the 1990's, restoring its place as America's Team.

Great 12 minutes about the ins and outs and how it happened.
That doc just further proves Jimmy was the mastermind behind the whole dynasty.

Jerry todayl already claiming the trade was his idea :{

Jimmy didst have total autonomy so even if it was his idea Jerry still gave the yes.

If something good comes from the Cowboys he didn't have anything to do with it, something bad its all his fault.

Jerry is a mixed bag... Sometimes he makes great moves, but other times he does stuff that makes you go Ummmmm What

As for the Herschel trade. It probably went this way: Jerry probably told Jimmy to shake things up because they sucked and were not turning the corner. Jimmy came back with the Herschel trade. Jerry probably lost his mind not knowing why he would suggest trading our best player. But after Jimmy explained it to him and how it would net a lot of picks, then gave him the nod.

great start to the season guys, if Romo was farther along in his recovery we would be 5-0, thats something to think about

so far this team is proving me wrong and I am loving it, right now my 7-9 6-10 prediction looks very very wrong indeed, but lets not get it twisted, Dallas needs to show up like they have against PLAYOFF teams, then I will totally jump on the bandwagon, until then I am staying humble and just keeping my expectations low

Manziel I am looking at you, now if you followed me comments and draft coverage, I never once said Martin was a bad player, I had him 16th overall on my board, I just felt a QB falling to us there was great, but Martin and the rest of the line look like a future to build around, can you imagine if we draft a LG or RT? This line would have the potential to be all time great, I would have no problem spending another high pick on OL next year, and we could have something special if we did

The best part about this new line and philosophy is we can go out there line up and just be like you know what? We are going to run the ball down your throat and there is nothing you can do about that. I love this newfound physical element of our game. I cannot remember the last time we could do that. Picking up short yardage and 3rd downs used to be a serious problem for us but not anymore. I love the entire direction of the team and I am starting to buy into Garrett as the head coach. Linehan was a critical hire that allows Garrett to be a head coach. Rod Marineli is killing it too, but I am not sure how much longer that will hold up, eventually lack of talent shows up. Hes doing a great job coaching but eventually there will be hard spots for the D

How about Rolando McClain?! That dude is a beast, man we gotta lock him up. Imagine a year from now with his body actually back in football shape? He could be an All Pro.

I dont think we can beat Seattle on the road, at home different game, but Seahawks in their home turf is a totally different beast indeed

this may be the game where you see our weakness exploited, well coached team, strong running game, mobile QB, Percy Harvin, physical defense with ballhawks, that is such a difficult task to beat all of that

I just want the Boys to show up play a competitive game, if they lose but show fight and keep it relatively close I am very cool with that, besides 4-2 after our hardest game of the season is a great start to 2014

a lot of thoughts, havent been here in a while though

It's interesting.

If we lose tomorrow, we'll be considered a "fraud 4-2" team. If we win tomorrow, we will be considered to be frauds at some point in the season i.e. "The real Cowboys will show up soon." Again, this is only on NT and from haters. So in other words, the only way for the Cowboys to never be considered fraudulent is to go to a Super Bowl.

Anyway, I agree with Blackboyfly. If we somehow pull this off, in Seattle, where Wilson has only lost once, best believe I won't be mad at any Cowboys fan ranting and raving. The hate will be on FULL FORCE as well, which is the best part about being a Cowboys fan.

We've already won more games outside of the division this season then we did all of last year 4-1 right now outside the division, we finished 3-7 outside the division in 13.

The 4-1 start is a great cushion in case of injury to a key offensive player.
We need a victory in Seattle to increase the cushion.
Really believe our running game will be too much for them.

Chancellor probably won't play which could be huge for us.

But unlike Dallas, most teams have depth so when a player goes down, there isn't a huge panic.

:lol Hey we have a lil depth this year.

Our best defensive player and LB in Sean Lee goes down and our LB corps is still our best defense unit and has arguably been the best position unit on the team behind the Oline. Even with Mcclain, Durant and Carter all missing games, our LBs have looked great the entire season except for one drive against Houston :lol. Even Hitchens who all of us weren't fond of after the draft has been decent. If we can keep McClain, which it looks like we will, come next season we should be 4 deep at the position.

Even tho he's a grade a bum, Mo goes down and not a single person really gets worried about it because our 4th corner in Moore had been playing great.

If Leary-Martin-FredBeard were to go down while the line would take a hit in quality obviously, we still have a dude whos a starter on most teams in Mackenzy Bernadeau to fill in.

It's time to start giving Garrett and Jerry credit...

How can anyone take them serious after something that stupid?
I've been free of national sports media for about 15years.
I don't have cable and don't read anything on espn.com.
