The NBA Draft Thread

Probably. It's just hard as Fultz is the only player who has a franchise changing ceiling. Everyone else projects to be a 2nd option at best.

On another note, I just read this article for best and worst landing spots for the top prospects and the one that I didn't really think about was Fox in LA. It actually makes total sense even more so than Ball. He has shooters in Ingram and D'Lo, he can push the tempo (much needed in LA) and is the best defender at PG in this class by a mile.

He compliments the current lineup very well.

But the biggest benefit of all would be than Lonzo will be away from his father so it's a win/win/win for everyone including NT. lol

Here is the article: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-landing-spot-for-the-top-nba-draft-prospects

Any reason to believe Dennis Smith Jr. (undersized, score-first, not amazing shooter) is not a bust waiting to happen?

He's 6-3.
It's the era of the score first PGs.
His shot selection is more so the problem than him not being able to shoot.

I think he's going to be really good and crazy how he's the 5th PG most talked about

I actually really like DSJ.

I think he's a much much better player than someone like Mudiay who was drafted in the same range. No reason why he cant be in that Jeff Teague, Jrue Holiday tier of PGs.

Strong, explosive guard. Good vision. Solid play making. Streaky shooter...but is far from a "non shooter". Good scoring instincts. Confidence, feel for the game. Good, quick hands defensively. Has "it".

Realistically, Dennis Smith could be maybe Eric Bledsoe. If we're being optimistic, he can be an All star level pg on a good team.

I have a hard time seeing him as a bust if he goes to a situation that's going to allow him to play, make mistakes and have the ball in his hands.

DSJ would be perfect on the Mavs or next to any team with a defensive minded SG.

Kid has the "it" factor. Would be shocked if he's a bust.

Smith's motor and defense will be questioned too, granted his coach stinks

yea his effort was poor in some games...I know nc state was straight trash and they had to play out the season with a lame duck coach but at certain times but Dennis was out there lookin like he just ready for the season to be ova...cant carry that over to the NBA especially playing point guard with all the talent at the posiiton right now

All this Lonzo talk...is there any reason why De'Aaron Fox shouldn't be drafted ahead of him?

You can make a case for or against Fox ahead of Lonzo...really comes down to if you think Fox jumper is gon get better...I've become more and more doubtful about pg's that cant shoot at the college level so I wouldnt put Fox ahead of Lonzo

At least you know the other team cant leave Ball open , if Fox cant hit a shot then you playing 4 or 5 on offense every game on the NBA level

Fox cant shoot now. Doesn't mean he cant later on once he hits the NBA. His form is fine and all it takes a few tweaks and repetitions with pros around him.

People were saying the same thing about Wall when he came out and countless others. Not like he has Gilchrist or Rondo issues.

Elfrid Payton?  Lots of guys never learn to shoot.  Wall is an exception tbh.

Is Fox a bad shooter or a non shooter?

There's a big difference between shooting 33% or not even looking to shoot.

Elfrid jumper is trash because his form is.

We're giving Wall credit for having a jumper now when he hasn't shot over 35% from 3 ever in is career.

I think Fox can become serviceable ala Wall is now

I was gonna ask how fox compares to a guy like Payton.
Wall still can't really shoot tho

Can diallo play or is he tryna finesse his way to the league?

Setting the bar incredibly low

Yea just like Jason Kidd..

I'd guess that the majority of guards that can't shoot never fix their jumper. Bigs are a different story because typically they don't have as many reps until it becomes a priority once they get to the league

Jason Kidd is a weird example because he only learned to shoot when his decade plus as a star was already over.

There was a stretch of games in SEC play when he completely lost confidence and was driving into a set defense b/c he wouldn't shoot.

I was being silly because people always point to Jason Kidd, probably the biggest exception in history, as a standard for guards fixing their jumper

Good luck to everyone tomorrow

Ah, good point then.  Yeah he's one of those outliers.

It's like "A one star team can win a championship because look at the 2011 Mavs"
