The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Glad judges didn’t screw that one up. Honestly glad Shavkat won just so I don’t have to hear Ian Garry speak after

Good fight. Ian could've really pulled that off if he didn't start slow. Getting out of that neck crank was wild. Don't know how the hell Shavkat did that.

Asakura is a wild boy. Mans comes out like he's shot out of a Canon. Has a real sneaky switch stance high kick. But he's had lesser opponents take him down and get his back with ease. If war Pantoja doesn't come out it might be an easy night for the champ.

Pantoja is a beast. I dont know how the hell he ate that knee straight to the chin.

Asakura is going to have some fun *** fights man. Him vs. Moreno, Royal, KKF are all bangers.

Yeah Shavkat aint really the long standing champ we thought he would be. Mans just too reckless defensively. Really needs to tighten that **** up. He got away with it here and in the Neal fight but that **** won't last forever. If Khamzat was still able to make 170 it'd be his division to lose.

All this makes the Belal fight a bit more interesting. One thing about his team is they're well studied and always comes with an A+ gameplan.

Always thought his defense was going to be a problem as he moves up the rankings. He took some big hits in the Neal fight and his head movement is lacking. Funny enough, I think Garry has the opposite problem. His defense is stellar, but in the past few fights his lack of dynamism on offense limits him imo

Finally got around to watching the 310 main card last night. A few thoughts, Pantoja is legit and I could see him defending a few more times at least. Something seemed off with Shavkat towards middle rounds but he did what was needed to get the dub, still would have liked to see him not clinch as most and strike more as he was getting the better of most exchanges. Garry did impress me though and that sub late was close. I also thought Volkov won and that was some shoddy judging though the fight itself didn't do much for me and not sure either guy really deserves next crack at the belt though it may come to that.

Good to see Seattle finally getting a UFC card. While not a PPV I still hope they get a solid main. Saw some of the announced and/or rumored fights and they really might do Fluffy/Allen?? Allen is coming off a loss but ehh I guess Fluffy needs someone above him but yea just don't make this the main or even co.

Did anyone else also notice Shavkat keep shaking out his arms after the first round? I thought that was perhaps due to the lactic aid build up after all the grappling in the first, but he did it so much it seemed unusual.

Was listening to a pod and they were saying Strickland will at least ask folks in the crowd to move before he engages with another fighter. Then Merab will just fight anyone who talks smack lol. It never ceases to amaze me how many idiots think they could beat up a smaller fighter even though they have no fighting experience. Just cause you're over 6ft and lift weights doesn't mean guys like Merab, Cejudo, DJ, etc couldn't easily take you out.

For the life of me, I don't get why the UFC doesn't come down to San Francisco and fight at Chase Center. I figure there is enough fans out here to fill an arena. Does Dana hate California that much?

I put a 100% but he’s been to San Diego and Anaheim in the last few years. But I’m sure there are a lot of places that haven’t held a UFC.

Edit. Two Years old from Reddit:

Dana hates the libs... well Climate Pledge is in Seattle (libs galore) but I'm sure Bezos, Amazon and co. didn't mind ponying up as fans in the city are hungry for an event since they haven't been back since 13'. I'm gonna try and go but not for a kings ransom and especially if they don't book a solid headliner.

I thought it was weird shavkat pretty much didn’t throw a single leg kick and now it makes sense why if he had a torn mcl coming into the fight.
