The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Was pretty mellow really. More of cutesy bit with Jay Crawford seeing how long he can hang with Conor.

Chael breaking down the fight a bit and playing Aldo with Conor in the cage.

He was his usual confident self but not over the top.

I will say....because of this, I realized what a great ambassador he can be for the sport when he's not overdoing it.

Suit was clean. Charismatic. Personable.

Chaels a tool. Point blank period. Not the guy you want repping the sport. Especially after getting caught cheating 57 times. (Not that the ufc or their fans care)

You are in the minority here. Chael has a huge following and will continue as long as he's around... Everyone is taking some kind of ped so can you really even hold that against him

MMA fans are more forgiving of this stuff that the general public.

As an ambassador you need to be more on the squeaky clean side. Chael has his doping, his federal case, his diet racism comments in the past and him making light of his doping.

Dude ain't the best fit to push it to the general public

I just think MMA needs that entertainment value to get to the next level. Not full on WWE but the trash talk, controversies add to the entertainment in my eyes. Almost like WWE but actual real fighting.

chael doesn't represent the sport anyway. At least not anymore. He's now just an analyst. He talks well which is why espn hired him.

I think Phil was talking about Conor.

and if he was, I agree.

i despised Conor when he first blew up and starting his trash talking to Poirier.

I watched a lot of his interviews lately and am actually growing quite fond of him. Confident guy and is really just trying to hype up the fight to bring in the $$.

Going to root for him against Aldo. The FW division can use some shaking up.

To be honest, the "MMA get to the next level" ship has sailed IMO.

It probably has passed. Don't see the sport getting much bigger than it is now. Sad to see there isn't even a major organization in Japan anymore. Don't think there's any relevant Japanese fighters around either.

True.. I miss pride...

Pride's production was so great. From the posters, to commercials, the entrances, and the screaming lady announcer. ufc's production value is so basic and boring.

100% agree... It just felt more intimate

Yeah I'm basically used to it now but I used to be strictly pride back in the day, every event really felt like an EVENT, production value was crazy. Too late for the UFC to switch it up now tho I guess.

To me it reminded me of the old WWF WCW competition.. Always good to have 2 top organizations

Yeah, competition is always good. Especially for fighters since they'll have more options. bellator is turning into a joke though.

I actually get what Bellator is doing. They have to put on freak show fights like Kimbo v Shamrock, and sign fighters past their prime like Tito, Koscheck, etc so they can try and draw viewers. But they've been low-key signing some big time prospects like Ed Ruth and Aaron Pico. But no one is gonna tune in to watch them or even Chandler fight. But they do for Kimbo, Tito, etc.

I meant Conor.

It was a linear thought in my head :lol

Watching the fight night replay. I think they edited out his gay jesus part of the interview.
