Operating like this can affect their bottom line long term...Sucks for Kev man. One thing you can't deny him is shying away from tough fights. Charles in Brazil, (undefeated at the time)Gillespie in NY, wanted Islam in Russia before Islam fought Moises, was calling for Khabib before he was champ.
Listening to the interview, I didn't know Kev has the same manager as Francis. Guy who used to work with the UFC and who Dana and co don't like. Seems like the firing was some sideways bs.
Francis hasn't even signed his championship contract. The title fight is his last fight on the current one. If he loses against Gane I wouldn't be surprised if they cut ties with him too.
I was watching the Morning Kombat pod a couple weeks back and they went into how UFC don't seem to care about essentially diluting the product as they can hold events at the Apex for relatively low costs and them pushing to have events early in the pandemic paid off for ESPN. They also brought up how other orgs like Bellator and PFL just can't compete with name recognition and getting the top matchups (this is undeniable). Seems like they'll continue to do many FN's at the Apex in 22' and could even continue doing at least half their FN's there and maybe the ones with big headliners in other venues around the country moving forward.I don’t think you can ever really question Dana in terms of money or his bottom line at this point
We may not like his tactics or we might even hate him but the ufc is clearly doing well. They’re operating like this because they can
The ufc would be fine without Francis. Cyborg and Corey Anderson are nobodies to casuals and didn’t hurt the ufc at all
Again I’m not saying I like Dana or the ufc model but they’ve proven over and over again that they’re competent businessmen
Nothing will change until the fighters band together
Their partnership with Espn has them made men on top of the fact that there’s no fighter unionI was watching the Morning Kombat pod a couple weeks back and they went into how UFC don't seem to care about essentially diluting the product as they can hold events at the Apex for relatively low costs and them pushing to have events early in the pandemic paid off for ESPN. So like has been said numerous times here, if the fighters don't form some kind of union or association nothing will change.
And thus genius on ufc part for their bottom lineUFC and the ESPN deal was the best thing for viewers but the worst for fighters.
100!!Their partnership with Espn has them made men on top of the fact that there’s no fighter union
they’re richer beyond their dreams with no regulation or checks and balances
Content is king. But I think the viewers lose due to lack of competition and a stale product (TUF hasn't changed, UFC can get away with cards like the recent Miesha one, fighter pay, lack of promotion, etc). And the fighters are the biggest losers.UFC and the ESPN deal was the best thing for viewers but the worst for fighters.
I don't like it. Most fight nights are on espn+ and they gotta put that annoying clown stephen a. on pre and post shows on big cards.UFC and the ESPN deal was the best thing for viewers but the worst for fighters.
Eugene, shut up lol. Not everyone has to stay the same forever
Your guy talks more **** than anyone
“Khabib talks more sh*t about other fighters than anybody and I’m disappointed to see that.,” Bareman told Submission Radio. “Because for me, he was a guy that, oh man, this guy’s still a purist. That’s not a part of his DNA. But now you see him slagging off fighters, and then Makhachev does the same. That never used to be a part of their culture in the sport. They had their own unique place in the sport. Now they’re just like everybody else. Khabib talks just as much sh*t as everybody else. He used to respect all fighters. He used to respect all fighters a lot. Same as Makhachev. I heard that maybe their manager controls their Twitter. But then they’re still foolish for letting the manager control their Twitter.
