The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Gane is so quick, elusive, light on his feet, extremely agile… He is constantly switching his stance and making himself a moving target. He also defends very well, and takes little to no risks. Very difficult to get a read on. It’s gonna be tough to catch him when he isn’t giving you anything to catch.

Has Gane' chin been tested yet tho...?
That’s fair.

But…let’s look at some facts. Two out of his last three fights have been against KO artists in Rozenstruik and Lewis.

Francis is definitely a freak of nature and a storm in the cage. I’d also say Stipe is a complete fighter but a lil older.

Im actually sad for Lewis. In his home town. Lewis was a lil aggressive but not enough skills to deal with the jab, clinch (Cyril didn’t try for take downs).

Sadly HW is super shallow so rematches for days. Gane has gone through Rozenstruik, Volkov, and Lewis.

Gane has trained with Francis (and then Francis left the camp). Gane also can fight five rounders. He definitely has styles.

Definitely different then the last time I saw gane fight and turned it off because of boredom.

Maybe it’s just me being prisoner of the moment, but I think Gane has the ability to beat Francis rather easy.

I get the fight ending power, however...Gane’s elusiveness leads me to believe he won’t be there to be hit. Gane seems to have a great gas tank so he has no problems sitting on the outside and keeping Francis at range with those leg kicks and a good jab. As stated a few posts back, Gane has more tools to pull from than Francis.

Francis/Cyril will be some great theater but I gotta roll with Francis. Francis bringing out leg kicks vs Stipe, I can only imagine that would be a big part of his game plan vs Gane to stop that movement of his.

what money?

gane/floyd were heavily favored in their fights

even joe six pack know u can't make money betting favorites
Cool.

Hence the word "easiest." Didn't say keep betting heavy favorites. Said it was the easiest, given the odds and the way it played out. Line was undervalued even closing at -285 for Gane. He should've been at least a -350/375 no matter what.

Also... Gane by KO/TKO was floating around +220

Like I called for last night

“It’s step by step (until the title). The next one is to do one more fight, I hope to fight until December and the big opponent for me would be Dillashaw, it would be a great fight. We would gain a lot from this fight, so I hope it happens. He’s a big name in the division,” Aldo said (via AG Fight).

I’d like Killashaw be Aldo. I’d give the stand up advantage to Aldo though his volume concerns me. But TJ does have his take downs.

And Still Tipping was the ultimate troll by Gane. He’s a fun-natured guy. He has that humble zest Greek Freak does.

Unfortunately the hw division is def not too strong. Even if jon Jones comes in we have no clue how he’ll do

But stipe is prob on his way out, so it’s really gane and Francis left

I wonder if that hw Olympic wrestler out of Minnesota will come to mma. He trains with brock and them

Anyway the fact that gane and Francis trained together makes the fight that much more interesting

Yeah, it’s definitely shallow.

Gane, Tuivasa, Hardy are recent injections into their roster. But the depth is definitely gone especially after they got rid of JDS and Overeem. When they had Stipe, Overeem, JDS, Cain, Werdum, Lewis, Hunt, etc it was a lot deeper. But…it was hard to really string together decent win streaks. Luque not getting title matches despite being 10-1 in his last eleven matches. Or debating Leon Edwards when you can win 3x and get a title shot.

And Stipe won’t be a pushover for the Jon we saw early last year. He could possibly get the scalps of the two greatest LHWs.

I kinda doubt the stipe Jones fight happens

Idk I feel like stipe will push to not have to fight anyone not for the title. Then if he does get the title shot I feel like win or lose he’ll retire

Fiziev letting it be known

“I was never his fan because we have different styles. We have big different styles. I’m a striker and he’s a wrestler. In wrestling, he’s very hard and you can win against everyone with his wrestling that Khabib has, but I don’t like this style. I don’t like fights like when Islam Makhachev fought with Drew Dober (at UFC 259). Three rounds of just wrestling and nothing to show. He finished him, but it was a boring fight,” Fiziev said.

That 1-2 rounds against Francis is going to be a nail biter…especially if Francis plays safe the first round like he did Stipe.

Gane is a whole different challenge than Stipe. Francis is in trouble. I can see Gane totally dominating this division for the next 5 years.

Bro, I thought Sealevel Cain would dominate HW for a long time.

Thought Stipe would go on a Silva like run at HW.

Francis will have issues in the matchup. But we saw a more patient Francis last March. He also demonstrated some grappling and wrestling. And he still has kryptonite in his gloves.

I’m not saying Gane can’t win. The footwork, the jab, the sub game, point fighting, etc. Or he’s not a problem for the division. But I’m not betting against Francis right now.

I fell into the hype last night thinking Gane would get slept but I was impressed after it's all said and done. Heavyweight division looking spicy right now.
