I agree, He took some Heavy shots prior, but he also rocked Stipe a couple times too. If you look at rounds 4 and 5, he started fighting a little more hesitant because he couldn’t see. Plus he started eating more rights. A least his backpedal was decent to not completely eat them.
Definitely expected him to try to wrestle more after the poke, but instead he let Stipe just keep him pressed up against the cage. kudos to Stipe’s lean-ness and cardio. Dude looked great and definitely maintained his strength. I’d love for him to run it back with Francis. I wouldn’t mind if Jones moved up to fight him either.

A warning would’ve been appropriate. It’s unfortunate that the ref missed it, but Cornier only got warned for a bad poke.
You also have to remember, Stipe had to get surgery on his eye due to pokes from Cormier’s pokes previously.

Definitely not his prime against Reyes. I think him moving up would be better for him and possibly give me the speed edge. I’m pretty sure he realizes that he has to go up as well. Cutting probably ain’t as easy for him now at 32/33 either.

I agree. Especially given how fouls can change the outcome of a fight.
Unfortunately, it’s not just the refs that are the issue. You’d need the commissions to agree to allow replay for foul review, given that it’s only allowed for fight ending sequences currently.
Then you’d have to come up with a way to deal with the guys/girls that cry foul only to have the replay show no foul.

I had to step away after DC lost. Man, I really wanted to see him get that win. He’s truly a champions champion and an all around good guy. Sucks to see him retire with this loss. Respect and salute to him though.

Pride solved the eyepoke problem like 2 decades ago with their gloves. Dunno why ufc don't use those gloves. rogan been saying the ufc has been designing new ones for 2 years now but still nothing.
Even if Goddard saw the eyepoke from stipe, he'd just give a warning for the first offense and give dc time to recover. dc's eye was bad and he couldn't see so if the doctor checked on it there's a good chance the fight would've been stopped and ruled a no contest or dq.
Anyway, o'malley got his skinny legs wrecked. Don't like that clown show riff raff copycat.
