"The Last Dance" Michael Jordan & Chicago Bulls Docuseries

That was going to be my next team after Jordan retired😅 Then they traded Van Exel for Danny Fortson 🤮 trying to get a power forward. Then they win a championship with a 50 year old AC Green.

Crazy that he played with Magic and won a championship with Shaq and Kobe.

that Van Exel trade pissed me off at the time. At least with the Eddie Jones deal, they got a good player in Glen Rice. I always wonder if they would’ve kept that team together a little longer had they beat Utah and managed to take a game or two from a Chicago.

Bulls not winning in 95
Bulls lost grant and didn't replace him til 96.
Bulls struggled without a good 4 that's why they got bounced by the magic
The bulls were outmatched on the bench too. That was a big factor too. The rockets had shooters.

I got an autographed Laker card from Van Exel in 1995 and became a Laker fan because of that. Growing up in BK it was weird to cheer for a team on the west coast.....

97, 98 and 99 were rough years as a Laker fan.... we went 1-12 vs Utah and San Antonio in those years...

98 hurt the most... Cause I exactly felt like we were going to get a Lakers Bulls finals...

I remember getting ran out of the building and later finding out about the 1,2,3 cancun chant NVE said. But you could tell those two plus Elden Campbell weren't gonna last especially with Fisher and KB and Eddie playing basically the same position. In 2020 those two would work so well.

Also I wish Eddie won a ring.. He played on the 2005 Miami team that lost to Detroit and didn't play on the 2006 team that won.

As a Laker fan I remember that series vividly. They beat Utah 3-1 in the season series that year. Won 61 games but finished second in the division due to losing the tiebreaker with a Sonics team they destroyed in the second round.

13 year old me thought that Lakers Bulls series was coming and actually thought the Lakers would have a chance lmao.

Then came 1 happened in Utah that Saturday where they got demolished and it was downhill from there. Looking back, that Laker team was loaded with talent, but lacked discipline and maturity. I was mad when they traded Van Exel and Eddie Jones at the time. But they made some good addition by subtraction moves leading up to Phil taking the job in 1999.

A good chunk of that team was broken up in the offseason and early in the lockout year next season.

99 they blew a late lead to San Antonio in game 2. Games 3 and 4 were back to back Saturday and Sunday. They crammed the playoff games in that year due to the lockout. Eddie Jones has bad luck ring wise. I could’ve swore he was back on the heat in 07 the year after they won the title.

It’s funny you mentioned the BK part cause I lived in LA at that time, but once school got out. I was in NY all summer in either Harlem or Brooklyn. Rocking that van Exel and a few summers later kobe champion replica where you didn’t see much laker stuff was fun. I remember going to Cosbys in 96 when it was still inside the garden and getting a jordan 45 jersey and an Eddie Jones jersey and some bulls replica shorts.

Daaaamn Cosbys....my tshirt and poster spot back then. I would walk down from school often just to check what they got. packed before and after Knicks/rangers games

I remember when the ‘99 lockout season began they started Kobe Bryant and Eddie Jones at the same time (EJ at SG and KB at SF) and it was working. Especially against Seattle. I felt like it could’ve worked long term but EJ was looking for that max contract (as he should). Funny thing is miami did a similar lineup when they moved Dwyane Wade to starting SG and EJ at the SF and that arrangement worked.

That 97-98 Lakers team should have made the finals. They got swept by Utah! Not taking anything from Utah but damn! Bulls and lakers would have been a great finals. I would’ve taken the Lakers in 7.

I honestly don’t think the game of basketball will ever see anyone better than MJ. People talk about “what if” had he not retired the first time. I think about the fact that he had a lot left in the tank the second retirement.

Dude left the league again at 34.Wouldn’t play for any coach other than Phil. What if he did? What if Krause didn’t sabotage the team and they stayed together?

or...

What if MJ decided to go elsewhere and play for another contender? Dude could’ve chased rings if he wanted to. He could’ve probably gotten a superteam together like stars do today.

6 rings is impressive, fact that there was a LOT of meat left on the bone is even more so.

There is always going to be someone "better."

Stop disrespecting the concept of time.

I think they could have won it all those 2 seasons that the Rockets won. However, the next 3 years after that are debatable. You'd have to wonder about fatigue. I'll always wonder what could have been...
I really hate when people throw this out there man.

To say they would have won 5 straight, with such confidence" is totally ignoring the wear and tear going deep into the playoffs each year puts on the mind/body/soul.

There is a chance they would have never won anymore than 3. You are looking at it in a hypothetical vacuum.

I am hoping that they discuss Brian Williams, who was a great player, and an integral part of their last championship. He died tragically, and I do not believe that they ever recovered the body. There was speculation that he was murdered by his own brother out at sea.

Watching the Pistons Lakers game on abc. lol, no comparison, not even close.

He likely was. And his brother killed the captain of the boat. All because the brothers were fighting and Brian Williams’ girlfriend was accidentally murdered. Sad.

Yeah, I forgot that he changed his name to Bison Dele. Monster on the boards. When he, Rodman and Pippen were in the game together, it was lock....DOWN. I enjoyed that team.

me too bro. Another jerry Krause move that doesn’t get talked about alot. BW/BD brought a different dynamic to that team and he seamlessly in that Locker room with all the different personalities they had. His low post battles/dust ups with Karl Malone
