From 2002 up until Jordan’s HOF speech in 2009, I assumed him & Bryon were cool—Mike was still essentially running the Wizards while playing, and signed Russell. Must be some interesting stories from that season together that we’ll never hear.
And Malone is the biggest piece of trash the NBA has seen, and is smart to avoid the limelight.

Should’ve clarified, speaking player-wise piece of trash. Not saying what Malone did is better/worse than Sterling, but Sterling did it on a larger scale.

The Godfather of Soul only cared about his rep as an entertainer. He knew what his moneymaker was, and was not about to lose revenue by appearing unprofessional. That is why he fined his band, even if their shoes weren’t shined while onstage, or while even missing a note. Like Brown, Jordan was a tyrant, then an incredible egotist..... you ain’t mention how James Brown also tried to keep a no drug or alcohol policy, by fining his bandmates if they were caught being drunk or high? At least he made the effort and cared about dudes health. Again, people are farrrrrrrr more narcissistic, self absorbed and self-centered in 2020, but hey, Michael is arrogant and cocky. I disagree. That is because I do remember what the world was like pre social media, especially pre Guiliani NYC. I remember what the subways were like, and what real Brooklyn and the burnt down Bronx actually smelled like, felt like. ALL is different now and the way the game is played today, proves this. The major difference I saw occur was that everybody gets a trophy business, right along when Guiliani Disneyfied Times Square/ and the lower east side.

Of course he attempted to take a stand with civil rights, that is known. However, business was business, and you did not mess with the business of Soul Brother Number One. His crew was always armed to the teeth, even hiring members of the NOI as his body guards.

Not beating up your band, if they messed up isn’t. James’s upbringing which was abusive, extremely poor, did not allow him to make many friends in or outside of business. Too many stories about him kicking a woman’s behind, even while backstage. Too many stories of him not paying his band. As I am saying, the self hating narcissist is very present in Jordan as well. From the looks of it, LeBron is gonna miss that train.
