The Kid Griffey Jr. wearing the BEST cleats in the Game!

I read something similar to that a while ago...can you post it?

it basicly gave him modest totals for when he was missing around a 100 games a year. ex. instead of 35gms played and 8 HRs they have him 135 and 25. Scary tothink where he could be right now.

Griffey is probably my favorite baseball player of all time. It's disappointing knowing he could have been the best batter of all time if he would havestayed healthy.

JR.!

Back in '04 when I was living in the Midwest, me and a buddy of mine got Cardinals-Reds tickets two weeks in advance, hoping that Griffey might hit his500th on a Saturday night game in St. Louis. I made a point to get seats in a section in dead right field, thinking that'd be prime Griffey-bomb territoryat old Busch Stadium.

Sure enough, he hit it into our section, right by where we were sitting. He just did it at the Sunday afternoon game, the day after we were there.

Anyway... co-sign what SinnerP said, cincybcats22. If I were you I'd be going to every home game from now until he hits his 600th, just to be able tosay that I saw Junior do it.

Yeah man #$!..he's about to hit his 600th HR soon..those seats should be packed..That's still the prettiest swing right there..If Griffey was to betraded back to Seattle this season and the Mariners become a sub .500 team..seats would still be at least 90% filled.

interesting article on the lack of love for JR.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/19466-Where-s-the-Love-For-Griffey--230408
Where's the Love For Griffey?

In case any of your baseball fans haven't noticed, Ken Griffey Jr. is approaching a milestone. With his 597th career homerun today against the Houston Astros, "the Kid" is set to join an elite club that contains only five members: Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Sammy Sosa.Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Junior isn't getting the love he deserves. Yeah, now ESPN has the Junior graphic and is beginning to flash to his at bats, but 600 homeruns is a big deal. It makes me wonder if Griffey's pursuit at 600 has gone silent because of the lack of controversey in his homerun total.

I can only speculate (but can do so with 100% confidence) that Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa achieved 600 career homeruns partly due to the use of performing-enhancing drugs. Ken Griffey Jr. is the poster boy of how to play baseball the honest way during the steroid era of the 1990s and 2000s.

Perhaps it's because of all the injury shortened seasons or the fact that he has played on losing teams in Cincinnati, but many have forgotten the days when Ken Griffey Jr. ruled the world of baseball. He was a perennial All-Star, a Gold-Glove outfielder, a fan favorite across the country, and a member of the All-Century team.

Griffey was not only in pursuit of the single season home run record year-in and year-out, but was on pace to pass Hank Aaron and become the homerun king. Tragically, in his eight years with the Reds, Griffey has played in more than 140 games only twice and from 2002-2004 played a total of only 206 games.

As a kid growing up in the 90s, Griffey was my hero. I wore the cap backwards, played the video game, and even wore his sneakers. He certainly is not the player he used to be and we can always wonder where he could have been if he stayed healthy.

A few things are for certain: Griffey will be in the Hall of Fame, Griffey plays the game the way it should be played, and Griffey will hit his 600th homerun very soon. When he does, let's give him the love, respect, and appreciation he deserves.

RUMOR MILL via Fox Sports

Adam Dunn/Ken Griffey Jr.: The Reds are sick of losing, or so they proclaimed when they fired Wayne Krivsky as general manager. Still, there is little point tothem keeping Dunn and Griffey, both of whom will be free agents at the end of the season.

Even if the Reds mount a charge in the NL Central, they would be better off promoting center fielder Jay Bruce - one of the game's top prospects - andcollecting more young talent in trades.

That means asking Griffey to waive his no-trade clause, possibly for a return to the Mariners, after he hits the three homers he needs for 600. It also meansmoving Dunn, who has full no-trade protection until June 15. After that, he can be sent to all but 10 clubs.

Dunn selected the teams on his limited no-trade list carefully, choosing mostly high-revenue clubs that could afford him. That way, he could gain a say - andleverage - in most discussions.

There's a Poll. 73% think that Griffey should be traded. I, of course, agree. Come on back. I don't thinkit's gonna happen but one can dream.

a little wishful thinking ... does Jr. wanna DH? or put him in RF? who's playing RF right now, Brad Wilkerson?

At the rate the M's are going you could put him anywhere but center and he'd outperform that existing player.

Word...He could play first. Sexson is hitting homers..but a low.200 average???...But i don't think the Reds would take Sexson..I don't knowwho the M's have that the Reds would want..has to maybe be a 3 team deal.

Those are also a Diamond Fury model... the Diamond Fury II. This isn't Griffey-related, but UNC shortstop Josh Orton busted those out in the'06 College World Series...

One of my all-time favorite cleats...

^ Back when we used to identify sneakers with athletes, those were Kenny Lofton's to me and my boys.
