Drake - I don't understand the hype about So Far Gone at all, his verse on Ransom is the best I've ever heard from him honestly
Joe Budden - has skills I admit but he can't make anything that I'll bump heavily a couple months later
Gucci Mane - {puts on flame suit} he's great at what he does but he's one of the most elementary rappers I've ever heard in my life

x a zillion. Great hip hop is great hip hop and you hear about it regardless and you get you put on and like/love it, if it's you're thing.

I think he means more from the perspective that he grew up in a region where they had their own hip hop scene and that greatly influenced the typeof hip hop he likes. So there are some rappers from other regions that when he hear their single it just doesn't appeal to me at all. There's somesouthern, western, and midwest hip hop music(lyrics+beats) that I can't just eff with.

Everyone has their own little check list for what they like in an artist. Lyrical ability may be the #1 most important factor on your list, butcontent/relatability may be #1 on mine.
That doesn't mean that one artist is better than another. We all assign our own value to certain skills.

Because it directly affects their opinions on those artists.

It all looks ok in this thread because of the context of the thread, but those same people who said they don't mess with so-and-so will be all up in thatartist's thread with the "Rapper A > Rapper B" and "NT hypes up everything" and "He's not that nice, he has 3 good songsand that's only because of the production" (etc. etc. you get the idea) type of posts. Where's the respect for those artists then? They'renot saying "I know he's great but I still ain't effin' wit him", they either end up trying to downplay or discredit what said artist did.

At the same time, I understand that there's a need for differing opinion because it wouldn't be much of a discussion board if everybody who was postingin a thread agreed with each other and shared the same opinion. The same way that people can claim they respect an artist for what they did or contributed tohip hop, I can respect their opinions and their choice not to be a fan of that artist. But that's not what I was talking about. I'm talking strictlyabout the outrageous things that people say in here some a lot of times.

Seems like at least 2 ppl say "I can't believe some of yall think_____ aint nice" then I think about those posting in here with that frame of mind.

Because many replies have been "i don't know/havn't heard much of *insert legendary rapper here* or even people not reading and saying that*insert legendary rapper here* isn't nice. Worse is that later in random threads many of the same people will happily come in and post their opinions aboutsaid rappers.
