I read that the cost of each prisoner is $40,000 per year. It varies by state, age, and other factors. Imagine what that money could do to help educational and economic development projects in Chicago alone. Ofcourse every murderer won't be caught, but think about how much money the state would have to spend elsewhere if they weren't housing individuals that killed others. We had over 500 murders in our city last year. Just say the police, without a doubt, caught and charged 60% of them. That's 300 murderers. If they were given the death sentence, after absolute proof of guilt, the state saves $12,000,000 per year.
This post was also inspired by the 9 yo thrown off the roof. He named person that attempted to kill him. This 17yo animal has already shown he is capable of killing someone. Get him out of here for good.
I feel this was never having any of my family murdered. A couple of my basketball players were victims of shootings. I feel this way having two cousins that killed people in cold blood and now sit in prison sucking up taxpayer dollars and having the ability to communicate with loved ones while their victims can't
What say you??
