The Combat Jack Show Thread

lmaoooooo at juan ep being better than CJ

I could easily make a generalization but I won't

I like juan epstein better than combat jack. Combat jack interviews are longer but if the guess isn't super talkative then the interview will fall flat because cj  questions suck really bad.

can't even call Juan ep interviews......I literally get updates on cipha comedy shows and rosenberg marriage every pod

I will say I liked the chris rock one cause it was like a big *** random convo.....rosenberg amber slurping made me cringe tho

So PRHYME finally gets to the studio after a half hour and Rosenberg tells them hold on cause he wanted to tell a story no one cared about.

juan ep aint messing with combat . juan ep used to be good but rosenberg is too busy trying to get some sort of respected name off of those podcast himself and cipha sounding disinterested has gotten old . combat is a great interviewer and has real interest in the people hes interviewing . he has good dialogue while with juan ep your just struggling to hear what the guest has to say ..

Combat also does research on the artist. Like reading LL's book.

I disagree strongly with dude criticizing his interview questions. He's improved a lot and worked on it.

I actually feel as though Juan Ep has regressed and I've listened to it for a while, before when you had to go to his website.

I think Juan Ep has become about them. Combat became popular organically.

I haven't listened to a combat jack podcast in a while, but the only problem i had with him was he stayed trying to finish his guest thoughts. A person would be telling a story and he'd jump in a say ".... and this happened right." Let the guy tell the story bruh. Then i realized that might be the lawyer in him, always trying to interject. And his lil "umph" adlib he seems to say all the time, got annoying quick. haven't heard an ep in months so i don't know if he still does that ****.

Only combat I didn't like off the top was ben baller and ross one...probably more from the past but recently I hated both

Sometimes I miss the old combat Jack with dallas penn and ****...the antics would have me rolling

Funny, I like Juan Ep faaaar more than Combat, to the point I had to unsubscribe from CJ. They get better guests, but the interviews are just terrible to me. The questions Pete chimes in with make me want to jump off a building. And Combat just...annoys me. Like, the way he talks is annoying - his cadences. I don't know. I can't do it. Reminds me of Xzibit or something.

And I know it's been a while, but Benhameen was the worst DJ i've ever heard.

I don't know, man, Rosenberg and Ciph are pretty funny to me. *shrug*

I appreciate the way they do it rather than just be beat over the head with information from the guests and their agenda. Put yourself in there. I listen for them just as much as the guest. But Maron is my favorite podcast overall, so, you know...same.

Hit it on the head. Yeah CJ is corny/annoying as hell to me. Ciph and Rosenberg can be corny in their own way too with the super-stanning and sometimes just being kinda lame in general (Rosenberg always defending his new best buddy Amber Rose annoys the **** outta me :lol ), but they're also pretty funny at times, while still not anywhere near as corny as Combat Jack. And that dude Pete is just lame, period. I saw this thread and tried to get in on Combat Jack, especially since they get more guests and the interviews are longer, but the shows are almost unlistenble to me unless the guest just takes over (ex. Tariq Nasheed interview was good from what I remember).

And as far as Juan Ep being about them, it is to an extent, they didn't even have guests until like 20 shows in. It started off as just them talking **** about their lives and hip hop and it caught on. It was like an inside look at two funny dudes that were in the industry at one of if not the biggest hip hop radio stations at the time, that had access to all the artists etc., but were still pretty much regular dudes. Then the guests came after that. So I think most people like myself that liked the show from jump don't mind them throwing their stories in there, it's the reason they started listening in the first place.

Cipha funny?

Dude always been unfunny dating back to his constant awkward interviews on that mtv show years back

That Ben Baller episode was like pulling teeth.:x

Preem mentioned Rosenberg asking the same porn question as Combat so I'm expecting PRhyme on Combat Jack next week.:evil

^1. alot of that was scripted 2. He still sucks as an interviewer.

Rosenberg is the one that keeps the interviews flowing, Ciph mainly has random stories and comments

I liked the funk flex interview but that's because they were probably too scared to do him like their other guest lol

Tried listening to the Primo/Royce interview....cipha eating strawberries :{

I'll catch it later.

That's the **** I'm talking about...

I agree with this. Rosenberg at least acts like he cares. OK, we get it you like old Preem, but can you at least act like you care a little and listen to the album.

That dude only knows the artist he plays on the radio and in the club.

I liked the funk flex interview but that's because they were probably too scared to do him like their other guest lol

:lol I liked the ones where the guest took over and seem to just talk, not waiting for questions, mainly because they're in radio like when Scratch was up there.

:lol That first 30 minutes was hard. I watched SOA, so that was the only thing entertaining about the first 30 minutes.

Stevie Wonder's daughter and Puffy's son. :|

Is he required to mention Amber in every episode?

It was funny how Rosenberg seemed sad when talking about the Titanic, and Cipha seems in denial.

I haven't listened to a combat jack podcast in a while, but the only problem i had with him was he stayed trying to finish his guest thoughts. He's stopped doing that as much. He did it more during the LL interview than he has recently.

That's actually something some people do to get the guest to trust them or get more out of them. Develop a connection, like Combat was doing it with LL on the club music and environment back in the early 80's.

He tried it with Ross also, by asking him about his child hood and his mom. To not make it a typical Rick Ross interview.

I really want to see his stand up.

Chris Rock had to go :| but Rosenberg sort of forced that situation for Cipha.

I could believe Rosenberg was a comedian, because he's sort of corny, creepy and awkward....and that has an appeal to some people...but Cipha?

This dude Ciph helping to answer comedian questioned posed to Chris Rock.

'Yeah, that's the worst!'

Shut up, dude.:lol

Only thing funny about Ciph is the fact he thinks he's hilarious. Dude is the Big Yawn of radio. And rosenberg is the epitome of stereotypical suburban american hip hop head.

I have to say the Premo's mini interview was good. I liked the playing a song aspect Rosenberg did. Plus Premier is a good interview.

I hadn't heard some of those songs in ages.

That Group Home album :Nthat gym motivation right there.

:lol@Royce and Premier getting on Ciph.

I've heard the Jay-Z outlining songs a few times. The funny thing is if he had Puff's ego he'd want co-producers credit on a lot of stuff.

Meant to come in here to say the same thing last night. That was a dope Juan Epstein even with the Amber name drop :{

If there's any doubt that combat jack is better than juan ep, just listen to the latest primo/royce/adrian interview. Way better than Juan ep's it's not even close.

Haven't even listened to the whole podcast and it's a million times better.
