The College Basketball Post

Trey Burke was excellent tonight, has an incredible handle, was consistently able to blow my Russ Smith, and turned the corner on the pick and roll when the bigs hedged, plays with such patience and a unique pace.

He's neck and neck with Marcus Smart, on my draft board, but this game was the tipping point, too good of a shooter, ball handler, pick and roll player to not be successful on the next level.

People have problems with his athletics I think he put some of that to rest tonight.

Haha but you're still saying the same wrong things about Trey Burke, so yes, I think I've got you pretty dialed in.

Fam... I've played and coached AAU, I've been to basketball camps, worked them and ran them, I've reffed on 3 different levels. I've personally trained players. I don't have to name drop to prove I know the game of basketball.

If you can sit here and say that Trey Burke wasn't the best player out on that court tonight then there is obviously some hidden agenda you have. You talk about intensity like all players have to scream and yell, as if that's the only way to measure a player level of intensity. Derrick Rose is one of thee most intense players on the court but his demeanor is that of a quiet person. Some people just aren't brash bro.

We couldn't have watched the same game.

I posted this while he was excluding me from his list of those who need to show their credentials :lol

I can accept your counterpoint bro. No argument from me. I respect your knowledge of the game even before you listed your past basketball dealings. I can however respectfully disagree with your assessment about Trey Burke. I'm allowed to do that am I correct?

That you are. :lol

Agree to disagree.

Burke must have some insane hops unless Peyton has lost some leaping ability cause dude used to get up like crazy with ease back in HS.

Wow to say Trey Burke didnt show up is a complete joke. Where was Hardaway??? He's the more senior member of the team and he had some key bad shots and careless turnovers, got pushed around like a rag doll by behanan in the 2nd half, and shied away from the ball in clutch time. Trey Burke, he played his heart out tonight.

Love Trey but I think his lack of elite athleticism will hold him back at the next level. He doesn't have that next level explosiveness to blow by people it seems like. Hate to say it, but he reminds me DJ Augustin but with better range. Don't know if that's a fair comparison.

That's who Tim Hardaway Jr is though, he's a big time athlete who makes bad decisions.

Trey Burke = DJ Augustin at Texas

Point Guards with elite Athleticism are like John Wall, D Rose, Eric Bledsoe, heck even Jerryd/ Bayless. I agree Trey isn't on that level athletically, but he'll be good in the pros at some point...especially if he gets mentored by a veteran PG. The DJ Augustin comparison was actually pretty good.

DJ aug is a very spot on comparison. Burkes is just a better scorer/shooter than when he was at Texas.

I say Burkes COULD start in the league but he won't be that nba superstar. He'll be in the class of Darren collision, Ramon sessions, etc.

Do people not remember the offense that DJ ran in Texas, the offense that Rick Barnes runs till this day, the offense the bares no resemblance to NBA offenses.

I know that they are both light skin PG's with wavy hair but jeeze. DJ Augustine was much more of a combo guard, did not show the ability to run the pick and roll like Trey has.

missed the game, but i was wondering, was c webb sitting with the rest of the fab 5 or was he lurkin elsewhere?

Worst case for Burke in the NBA is Augustin, best case is Jarrett Jack.

This draft year sucks..

Judging from the last couple of days of posting I dare say you really feelin Alfonso Clark Burke III. Why didn't you just come out and say it...I would have tempered my criticism as not to upset you :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin

Alright mr. Scout.

A lighter Ray Felton? Probably a better jumper at age 20 too.

I'm still shocked he won a title with this Lville team but not with that t-will led squads

[Osh Kosh] No more like a smaller version of Magic Johnson, with Steve Nash-like ability to run the pick and roll...but with better decision making and a better jumpshot.[/Osh Kosh]

Agree I don't think Trey is a classic past first point guard can get shot-happy at times, obviously not as chunky but I think that works. I'd say he has a better jumper at this point in his career though.
