Is it really a shame? The owners make billions and then guys are applauded for taking discounts to possibly win? Where's the honor in that?

Exactly, I don't understand what any of these dudes are talking about.

It ain't honorable, just bad business.

"Honor" can't be defined.
You have to look in the mirror to find it.

It's why some people can see no honor in certain things.
It's not singular, open that head a bit

It's not like these guys are taking less money so owners can make more, Duncan/Dirk take less money so there is cap room to bring in outside talent.

Read what you wrote again and you'll see the flaw in the system
I'm aware of the flaw. That's the issue with a salary cap. Chicago Blackhawks are trading players that helped them win a Stanley Cup because of the cap. Long as there's a salary cap you either have to lose talent, draft talent, or need guys to take payouts to attract outside talent.

In Wiill's case, Hunnid million dollar cap is right around the corner.

12-13 spots on the squad, really only about 10 since a few of those spots are gonna be guys making peanuts.

Everybody can eat.

Yea, but the way that the business is set up, the players are the ones who are asked to make less money. When careers and earning potential are already limited, then why would anyone want to take less money? System should encourage the billionaire offers to be able to spend as much as they want to win if it's that important.

I hate salary caps for that reason. Rather everyone did it like baseball does. No cap and you penalize teams that sign top free agents (losing a draft pick or something) to help limit overspending.

baseball does everything better

no cap, farm system, they just need to work on making the game more affordable for kids

Baseball is very watchable man :lol and it's gotten better with the speed up rules. You gotta appreciate the subtleties of the sport. Crack open a brew or get a sandwich sit back and relax.

NFL is garbage as an organization, dudes get paid peanuts in a sport that generates the most revenue and is the most dangerous.
I used to think they made the most revenue but then I began thinking about sports globall . NBA has to make far more, right? And considering they have to pay less players (15 vs. 53) they can afford to give big contract . I agree though NFL players should get more money.

i feel like NBA players get more than NFL players because one single player has a bigger impact on a team than one NFL player.

Like LeBron James on any NBA team puts them in the Playoffs.  Put the best NFL player on the worst team, are they gonna be a good team instantly? probably not
