This is overblown. He really hasn't and the few times that he's saved us is outnumbered by the amount of times he's killed us with his poor defense, hijacking of the offense, and long jumpers. He was almost unplayable this past postseason man.
You almost can't play him because he needs the ball to be "effective" and isn't good enough to have that much of a responsibility within the offense anymore. And all of that is second to how bad he is defensively. If you are trying win a championship he can't be a key cog in the rotation.
Rivers is better for the clippers moving forward. Younger, can actually get to the rim, and is a good spot up shooter
Man what?
Jamal shot 38% from 3 in spot up situations while Rivers shot 31%.
Crawford has a 61.5% eFG% to Rivers 45 in spot up situations, once again, not close.
You can't even compare the two in isolation situations, Crawford is one of the best in the entire league, gets 1.07 points per possesion and scores 49% of the time.
Rivers on the other hand, is one of the worst. He turns the ball over 12% of the time to Crawford's 1% and scores 32% of the time while shooting 37%.
They both finish around the same clip at the rim, so yeah.
They are both horrible defensively but Rivers is even worse by all measure.
Austin is only younger, there's no way you can say he's "better" for the team in the least, you just like him.
