Unless he is gonna opt out at year 3 then I still see no point. Now if you telling me after year 3 there is gonna be another rise in the salary cap then fine I get it. But if he is gonna play out his contract or the lockout that's coming in 2 years then it makes no sense. He might as well go the Lebron route and sign a 2 year deal with a player option after the 1st.

I don't think he thinks there will be a lockout. Thats just a guess, from me, because of all of the ridiculous money being handed out.

And he;s definitely going to opt out after 3, no doubt, unless he suffered some type of injury. I think he would be due a 5 year $150M deal in 3 years. Something in that range when his 3 years are up.

a Healthy motiejunas and a healthy beaverly puts them above OKC and the clippers to me.. OKC has way too many holes

Na I don't think so, Rockets still have holes too and don't have close to the depth of talent OKC has.

No one worth the max is available anymore. Silly Laker fan
Did you just call me a Laker fan

And second of all I was talking about next season

This season they are done but that will help them so they can get a lottery pick and not be stuck with DJ for 5 years

"Setting them back" is not really true

this guy signing papers blindly without his agent? Son probably signing a 5 year $20 mil contract without even knowing it

All of the top teams in the West won't be healthy next year anyway (at least during the playoffs). Which ever teams are the healthiest will have the best shot. Simple as that.

Clips should call Dallas tomorrow about a possible Dirk trade now that they're rebuilding.

But that deal the Mavs had on the table (4 years $80M) would be considered a steal for the Mavs after this season. Above average players are looking at close to $15M per now. Everything goes up next season and the year after. We;re looking at a $30M increase in salary cap next year? That doesn't mean the $30M will be spent like it would be spent now. It just means everyone just gets more than they would.

Why is NT so mad at DJ backing out of a verbal contract?
Hell some cats in NT back out of their bets when they lose

meh. i dont see a prob in DJ's actions. people get engaged and call off the wedding all the time. It's just business. It's not personal. He made a decision and then he changed his mind, before he ever signed anything legal, and then he made another decision. One of the laws of business, it's not real until you get the paperwork. You can't take anything that DJ said as law, if he was getting domed up from Dallas strippers and shooting the best coke in the city. If dude was pres, he'd give you launch codes in that position. Doesn't count.

Except he handled it like a female dog by not returning the Mavs' calls or attempts to get in touch with him. Act like a man and have the decency to say, "Hey you know what, I know I'm putting you in a tough spot but I had a change of heart and want to do what's best for me."

Changing his mind this late in the game was bad enough but he handled it like a HS girl giving her ex the silent treatment.

wow, i didnt know he was doing all that. soft and childish as hell. you gotta give a courtesy call. don't let them find out the same way we are. frail af. but...he is a clipper...i expect nothing less
