The 2014-2015 NBA Season Thread. Lock It Up Please: The Golden State Warriors Are The Champions

From what I've seen, Exum has shown flashes defensively as well. Seems to have a knack for steals and uses his length well. Has trouble getting aroundTN screens, but that's to be expected with a rookie.

I've seen a ton of the Jazz since they've played the Clippers and Lakers so damn much it seems. The poise and pace of Exum is what impresses me the most for a 19 year old. It's unreal. Savvy as a ************ already. He never tries to do too much or force anything. He sees plays and executes before they actually happen, intuition far beyond a rookie is supposed to possess.

Still not going to say he's going to be God mode or whatever in a few years but damn he plays like a veteran role player already.

Man night shift in this thread seems to have been a drag. Looks like a couple of you all had a sleepover and had a pillow fight in here.

On an NBA note the Cavs don't make the finals this year. I just can't decide who the foil will be. May have to go process of elimination. Won't be Boston or NJ. Can't be Knicks as they are now. Orlando and Milwaukee are too young. Philly is Philly. Miami will have an identity crisis, not sure how long it will take to figure things out, half a season or the whole season. Not sure how Atlanta played as well as they did in the playoffs last year. Indiana is not full strength obviously. Haven't seen the new look Hornets yet. Detroit is just not there.

Down to the Bulls, Toronto or Washington. A healthy Washington looks tough. I'll have to think a bit more.

Exum is just too smart and talented at such a young age to not be good.

On another note though, Mavs and Cavs are my finals picks.

The mavs hype train is getting bigger and bigger every moment leading into the season

I really hate discounting the Spurs and at the same time there were other Mavs teams that won 60+ games and underachieved, but Idk i feel like this might be the best Mavs team Carlisle coached.

Ain't nothing changed, still going to be an OKC/Cavs finals, as it should.

Clips cant win wit Blake Griffin, shoulda traded him for Dwight when they had the chance.
He can score but they need defense. Matt Barnes, lol, aint enough.

Finals will consist of either:
MAVS/SPURS vs. BULLS/CAVS

honorable mention:OKC

Trade for dwight and they already have deandre. Makes sense

Deandre aint the defender Dwight is, and get you no buckets outside of lobs.
At least Dwight may require a double team at times. Which would leave one of the many clipper 3 shootrs open.

So in the past week we've had:

Julius Randle has Blake Griffin athleticism

Kevin Durant doesn't make his teammates better

Clips can't win with Griffin, should have traded him for Dwight Howard

Never change NT

lol right? some of you guys are 2K gm's
so Dwight= Deandre??? Really???

I hate Dwight, but dude can score some beyond catching lobs.
aAnd is a much better defender.

yall dont watch games, just espn highlights

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin said his frustration over continued hard fouls "probably" will result in him retaliating if it continues.

Griffin and Utah Jazz forward Trevor Booker had to be separated in the third quarter of the Clippers' 101-97 preseason win Friday when Booker fouled Griffin hard in midair. After they exchanged words, Griffin grabbed the back of Booker's head before both players were pulled back by their teammates.

"I was going to, but then I thought, 'It's preseason,'" Griffin said when asked about retaliating. "It's not worth it. That's not the person I want to waste it on."

Blake Griffin shows incredible patience despite taking hard fouls, teammate Chris Paul said.
When Griffin was asked if he feels close to retaliating if the hard fouls continue, he said, "Yeah, probably. I'm not going to do it for no reason or if it's not warranted and I didn't feel that was."

Clippers coach Doc Rivers said he doesn't want to see Griffin retaliate, but admitted the continued cheap shots are taking their toll on him.

"You don't ever want him to do anything but he gets hit with more cheap shots than anybody in the league," Rivers said. "I don't even think it's close."

Clippers guard Chris Paul said he could sense Griffin getting close to a boiling point after the Booker foul and continued asking him if he was good and made sure he was fine to continue playing.

"He's getting real close to it," Paul said of Griffin retaliating. "I'm glad [he didn't] because we need him. A lot of times in those situations, we need him a lot more than the other team needs the person that usually [aggravates him]. It's tough. Blake is unbelievable to show that patience. I think that's one of the most selfless things that he does all season long because even though he wants to react personally, he sacrifices for the team."

Griffin has been showing restraint after hard fouls his entire career but laughs at the fact that he's criticized for that and complaining about fouls at the same time.

"On one hand, everybody tells me to do something; on the other hand, people tell me to not complain and to play ball," Griffin said. "You're not going to please everybody but I just got to do whatever I think is right and use my judgment."

Griffin has often heard others say he won't retaliate no matter what others do to him. He said he's fine with that, but won't be fine with getting cheap shots for much longer.

"That doesn't bother me," Griffin said. "It's more about standing up for yourself. There's times when hard fouls are a part of the game and there's times where they are a little bit further than that."

having two defensive allbeit rather slow centers isn't going to help any team win a championship. and what about floor spacing on offense? Blake's jumper has improved in that department and to boot who are you gonna have chase Ibake or cover him when he shoots long. It just doesn't make sense to have a team with Dwight and Deandre.

I didnt say have dwight AND deandre. Only way that would work is if he came off the bench. Other then that, you have to ship him out of town. It would be more akin to Orlando Magic with CP runnin the show, and Boogie coming off a deep bench.

The person he wants to waste it on. He's got a list. Serge Ibaka better watch out. Blake doesn't forget
