Tekashi 69 lookin at RICO

Just heard some of the album leaked songs.. it's maybe my age and my generation but IMO, besides the beats, the album is Basura. Dude sounds like ****, like how are people attracted to this music? Again I personally don't think he's talented but My Opinion.

going thru it now...its trash.

that feefa with kanye tuff.

that lil baby song tuff.

that gunna song tuff.

its definitely music of the moment as in it is necessary that they dont hold on to these too long but then again i always think the publics music tastes will move faster than they do.

all of these are hits tho if he’s able to get home and do his usual youtube push. if not then its gonna kill a lot of these songs potential.

whats left of his team better do some cartoon videos like Tupac. get them ****** that always be in the IG comment sections asking people if they need graphics lmao.

Bruh not getting out. No word of bail and his trial date is set for September

To think rappers are getting away with 1:30-2:00 minute songs today is crazy. But it’s due to these young/new internet/social media rap fans. But it’s not just them alone, because it’s really how the internet has changed the way people think and their perception of what’s good or bad by the sheep mentality, add on the short attention span that social media creates in people’s minds from the overdose of material rapidly pushed on a daily basis, then I understood it. When I noticed the 2 minute formula with 1:25 being nothing but a hook. I knew then that rap music was on the decline. It only seems that rappers are doing this format. It’s better for the artists because they don’t have to work as hard at the craft. Imagine if we only received 1:30-2:00 songs from the 1990,s/2000,s rappers.

We expected more from a skill/product point of view compared to now. Everything is quick and microwaved up as a fast cheaper product. Plus, due to the internet, it’s more about an artist selling a lifestyle with their story, compared to if their music is quality like the old days. Everything is about the visuals now because of social media. That’s what the older people fail to recognize. A new artist has to want to do a lot videos/interviews off the rip before the music is really being pushed. Back in the day, your skill level had be up to par to even get connected to the game. The criteria of today, is to be a side show visually with a storyline to intrigue the youngsters, with a lot of visuals, on ig and YouTube, etc. The more antics/drama, the better of a following you can get, the music can be trash, but people will eat it up if it’s catchy, because they’ve bought in to your image/story first, not the music.

The music use to be consumed first, after your music got hot, the visuals came on t.v. Afterwards, then interviews and then your life story. The internet reversed how artist get popular today, and how we consume music. If more people realized this, They wouldn’t hate so much. Cats like 69 recognize this loophole in the game and flourish because of it. This is also why older rappers like Nas don’t release as much material as they use to, and when they do, it’s just a couple of songs. It’s a smart business move. Why would he release a full album with (14-20) 3:00-4:00 songs, when young people don’t even appreciate that (skill level/length of songs) of rap today. If I was a rapper of the caliber of say a Nas/Jay/Ross/Wayne, I would have to be garaunteed $ from the jump to even consider making a full length traditional rap album.

Like the fans would have to pre order at certain percentage for me to even consider it. Because the younger artists are out here caking up with 2:00 minute songs filled with nothing but a hook. While would sit down and pin thought provoking lyrics, when it’s not even appreciated anymore, and the pay for it isn’t even close to what I use to get paid for it. So you have to change with the times. It’s not yesterday, and you can’t think like it’s yesterday.

I was JUST looking at the CNN Special on the 90s, old heads (at the time) were saying the SAME stuff yall are currently saying, but in response to NWA and the move from "conscious rap." So this idea of there is NOW a generational divide, that has ALWAYS been the case with music PERIOD

****** just love complaining that's all. Same old ****

For what tekashi is, he’s entertaining to me. I’m not a fan, but his music needed for balance. Everything goes full circle. If people would have more open minds to music, then they would understand more. Don’t get upset when I say this, because he’s not a lyricists. But his voice/cadence is just a newer version of Onyx/Run Dmc flow. It’s energy rap, it’s all about him being hyped while getting other people hyped up when he’s rapping.

It’s like if young rapper comes out with a newer version of what the west coast and south did in 90,s with some new style to it. 69 Social media antics gave him him the big push also. From what he says in interviews, he studied how fans consume music nowadays, and what gets their attention. He basically trolled on a master level, but the antics backfired on him at the end.

I guess we are experiencing a huge age/ cultural gap in hip hop if people think his songs are bangers and any of them sound good.

Ill be happy to be on the grumpy old guy side in this divide...because his music sounds like yelling *** garbage to these 34 year old ears

Exacto!

I’ve been listening to some older music. I’ve come to the conclusion that Boosie,Max B,Stack Bundles, would’ve been at a different level if they had what we have at a Social Media level. They had the antics to get the attention, and they could’ve flourished with a very long career with the 1:30-2:00 song format of today. But they could’ve crashed and burned real early as well because of the attention they would’ve brought on themselves from all the flexing they like to do.

the irony of that man saying “if i was a rapper the caliber of nas/jay/ross/wayne...”

https://kulturehub.com/lil-wayne-nas-beef-rap/

this convo happens to some degree every decade once Pac and them were doing too much to the old heads...

IMO it stems from people not wanting to see **** change from their formative years especially something as crucial to your formative years as the music culture you were into
