You guys are completely missing the point of this movie. It's supposed to look like that. The game is ridiculous, so the movie doesn't need to be some serious hero's journey slop, like what Mortal Kombat tried to do recently by just making up a character and trying to get people to invest in him. Could you even name the main character in the 2021 movie? The studio literally said "we don't want a white guy (basically, Johnny Cage) as the main character", yet they cast an Asian American actor and name the character...Cole Young? What the hell is that nonsense? "Liu Kang" is sitting right there, and was the main character of the 1995 movie. The studio realized its mistake, so Cage is in the sequel, hamming it up.
Ultimately, you hve to lean into the absurdity of it all. Look at the Peacock adaptation of Metal Gear. It has no right to be as good as it is, but it works because they really just went all out with the premise. Also, looking for to Zangief. The actor was pretty good in Reacher, and is perfect for that role.
do it right.. we've been waiting for this for Jean Claud was Guile and those that played this in the dangerous arcades in the 90s. Watchmen is probably one the best examples I can think of that did it right with the characters and the story line.I'm not leaning into nothingdo it right.. we've been waiting for this for Jean Claud was Guile and those that played this in the dangerous arcades in the 90s. I haven't watched it so I can't say I don't like it, that was your interpretation. I replied to you telling the whole thread to lean in on whatever they're selling which is dismissive and that can be a cop out too. Most if not all of these movies will probably never be 'done right' because they have to appeal to dollars and demographics, especially in modern times. dmbrhs I gave you a reference

To do something right is to honor the characters and their motives, story line if there's one there, and the look should be appropriate- not over the top or extreme or just flat out wrong. Another version of something that was done well if not 100% 'right' which is unrealistic is the Batman trilogy with Christian Bale.
Man It looks like it's going to be a dope action movie
