You guys are completely missing the point of this movie. It's supposed to look like that. The game is ridiculous, so the movie doesn't need to be some serious hero's journey slop, like what Mortal Kombat tried to do recently by just making up a character and trying to get people to invest in him. Could you even name the main character in the 2021 movie? The studio literally said "we don't want a white guy (basically, Johnny Cage) as the main character", yet they cast an Asian American actor and name the character...Cole Young? What the hell is that nonsense? "Liu Kang" is sitting right there, and was the main character of the 1995 movie. The studio realized its mistake, so Cage is in the sequel, hamming it up.

Ultimately, you hve to lean into the absurdity of it all. Look at the Peacock adaptation of Metal Gear. It has no right to be as good as it is, but it works because they really just went all out with the premise. Also, looking for to Zangief. The actor was pretty good in Reacher, and is perfect for that role.

He's probably only going to get 5 minutes.

People have already said they won't see it because of Andrew Schultz. The guy is going to be in it for a minute and killed off lol. That's the point of casting a polarizing person like him. You'll root for his demise.

I'm not leaning into nothing :lol do it right.. we've been waiting for this for Jean Claud was Guile and those that played this in the dangerous arcades in the 90s. Watchmen is probably one the best examples I can think of that did it right with the characters and the story line.

I would LOVE to know your definition of "do it right". It's such a cop out phrase when it comes to these types of things. You've already resigned yourself to not liking it, so it won't be done "right" already.

dmbrhs dmbrhs I gave you a reference :lol I haven't watched it so I can't say I don't like it, that was your interpretation. I replied to you telling the whole thread to lean in on whatever they're selling which is dismissive and that can be a cop out too. Most if not all of these movies will probably never be 'done right' because they have to appeal to dollars and demographics, especially in modern times.

To do something right is to honor the characters and their motives, story line if there's one there, and the look should be appropriate- not over the top or extreme or just flat out wrong. Another version of something that was done well if not 100% 'right' which is unrealistic is the Batman trilogy with Christian Bale.

Is it so much to ask for a good movie? 😂

Batman is a good example. That’s like saying OG Batman 3 and 4 is “good” if you “take it for what it is”. 😂 no, that’s called bad

The last MK film was terrible, but that was entirely out of bad writing and story. Visually it looked fine for the most part. What’s sad it the first 10-15mins was A1. THEY HAD SOMETHING RIGHT THERE……. Then they
