STREET FIGHTER

I like the easier combos but it seems like they're removing some every revision. I never learned how to plink in IV.

I loved playing the V Beta. Guess Europe and Asia are about to get the second Beta in a few weeks and it will only have Claw, Karin, Necalli, Mika, Ken and Rashid.

i thought the whole point was this game was going to be more newb friendly....
As long as they don't make it into a button masher, then I don't see how it's "noob friendly". The moves shouldn't be hard enough to require hours of practice and so that those who have spent a bunch of money on a special stick have a massive advantage. If they could make a game where the objective of the game is to outthink the opponent and not to outcontrol him with the help of a fight stick, that is to make the playing field as even as possible, that would be the ideal game IMO.

Street Fighter 5 closed Beta Test 2 - Japan Oct 22-25th

The second beta test for Street Fighter 5 has been announced, and will be taking place between October 22nd and October 25th in Japan. Whether this is the same for other regions is currently unclear, but what is clear is that this next beta test will include 6 characters - Series newcomers Necalli and Rashid, alongeside veterans Karin, R. Mika, Vega and Ken.

Not only that, but as had been previously mentioned by Capcom, this beta round isn't restricted to Playstation 4, but will also be available on PC via Steam.

As an added bonus, players who partake in this second wave of beta tests on Playstation 4 will receive the next batch of Ultra Street Fighter 4 alternate costumes free of charge. This is a Halloween-themed horror costume pack, and we've received pictures of a bunch of characters which you can find below.

Street Fighter V Beta #2 details

Hey everyone, I come bearing titillating details on our second Street Fighter V global beta coming your way on October 22nd and running through October 25th (dates subject to change, exact times to be specified later). There are a lot of things we plan to test over the four days the beta is live, most importantly, cross-platform play between PC users and PS4 users!

PC Play

We’re opening up beta access to PC users for the first time. Please check the minimum specs post here to make sure that your PC is able to run SFV properly. Although the minimum specs will allow you to run SFV on your PC, the recommended specs will ensure you have an optimal SFV experience. PC users gain access to the beta starting October 24th.

PS4 to PC Cross-Platform Play

We will be testing out PS4 to PC cross-platform play functionality on October 24th and 25th. This is a first for us and we are very excited for players across both platforms to finally have a chance to battle one another. Make sure to bring your best strategies as the number of people that you can fight against will be that much larger this time around.

Characters

Since the last beta, we’ve announced quite a few new characters and I’m pleased to confirm that they will be selectable during the beta. When the beta launches, Ken, Necalli, Vega and R. Mika will be selectable. As we’re still reviewing our content delivery system, Rashid will be added in on day two (October 23rd) and Karin added on day three (October 24th). The characters from the previous beta: Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, Birdie, Nash and M. Bison will not be selectable this time around.

Ranked Matchmaking

Do you desire to only play the strongest around? Well, ranked matchmaking will definitely be the way to go. Players will be automatically paired with someone of equal skill, with pairings becoming more difficult the better one performs. GET HYPE!

Combined Leaderboards

We will be keeping track of the beta’s cream of the crop through our leaderboards. This is the perfect time to show everyone (PC and PS4 users) that you’re the best around as your name shines brightly above the others.

Player Search

Interested in seeing what strategies the top players on the leaderboard are employing? Well, with the implementation of player search functionality, you can see what they’re doing and also check out their fighter profile.

Fight Money Unlockables

During the last beta, many players accumulated a lot of Fight Money, which they weren’t able to use. This changes as we’re testing out the ability to unlock items through fight money. Players can look forward to unlocking titles and maybe even the Kanzuki Estate stage.

Oh and just so we’re all on the same page, all things acquired (Fight Money, leaderboard status, titles) will only be available during this beta and will not carry over onto the next beta nor onto final release. The Fight Money pricing of items available to unlock and the rate that Fight Money is obtained are both still placeholder, and will not be indicative of the final product.

For those of you interested in participating in this second global beta, please look to your region below for instructions on how to potentially gain access:

PC Users (all regions)

Preordering Street Fighter V on Steam will allow you access to the beta.

Signed up to this beta and hope i get selected.

I'm happy they took out the characters from the last beta. I've seen enough of them already, especially Ryu.

Meh..
She looks strong but something about her feels generic.
Also she has that Dan/KOF style projectile which could make for great set ups.
I'm conflicted about her[emoji]128518[/emoji]

Yea the slow projectile mixups into command grabs look real good. Her normals and movement also reminds me of Juri.

The video got taken down because Sony released it too early. It should be back up today.

That looks like it could be Alex. Interesting.

The more I see Gief, the more I think he's going to be SO good in this version. If you can cancel his V-trigger into something else that will literally stop people from being able to find that ONE button to keep him out. He could really get into your face and stay there. I'm wondering if that head butt makes projectiles non-damaging? Anybody know?

was alex really that popular?

I'm still dumb upset ryu and gief still looks the same. I know my man ryu been traveling, but at least make it look like he's been traveling sensibly, some shoes...or atleast womething wrapping all his feet.
a hood. jacket. maybe a reg shirt.

not that he's been only training in a dojo.

can't really change gief to much, but lets give him a bigger beard maybe some pants or something. hulk hogan style ripped shirt

No, he was just meant to be the face of of SF3 but that didn't pan out. In the process he gained a cult following and capcom began to model his character after hulk hogan. The way he rips his shirt and the stare down he gives to Hugo (who was modeled after Andre the giant) when they fight each other always made me smile

...until Hulk showed his racist side :frown: :rolleyes

The suction lariat in V-trigger is going to be a problem.
Momochi had a stream with some high level play of Zangief against others in the cast. Some really good matches.

There was some debate on GAF around this with some arguing that Ryu's look is too iconic to change and I can see what they mean. You wouldn't expect Mario to look any different and so Ryu being the face of street fighter for over 20 eyars now it makes sense that he looks the same.
However, The bearded Ryu ties in with the story apparently so what we can hope for is a more fleshed out story in the game where they look different at one point.

Zangief with a larger beard definitely would be something
I wish he got his cape back as well

Introducing Laura Matsuda to Street Fighter V!

Another new character enters the fray. Announced moments ago at Brasil Game Show, allow me to introduce the latest addition to Street Fighter V: Laura Matsuda! Fighting out of Brazil (home of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), Laura specializes in Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu, a first for the Street Fighter series.

As the next heir of the famed Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu fighting style, Laura is constantly looking for strong opponents around the world to defeat, in an effort to spread the Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu’s name and prestige. Generally a happy and outgoing spirit, Laura finds she is the most content and most focused in the heat of battle.

Laura’s methodical grapple style and quick movement will make her a favorite for those who like to specialize in “up close and personal” mind games. Using a variety of quick moving attacks and command grabs, opponents will have to always to be on guard to stop Laura from overwhelming them quickly.

Laura is also the first grappler in the Street Fighter series to ever have a projectile! This really changes up how she approaches her opponent and how opponents can approach her.

V-Skill: Linear Movement

By holding either back or forward and pressing medium punch + medium kick, Laura moves in the corresponding direction, getting her in and out of the opponent’s range at will. If no direction is held during the V-Skill activation, she will perform an overhead kick.

V-Trigger: Spark Show

Laura gets ready to zap the competition when she activates Spark Show. During her electrifying state, Laura’s Thunder Clap projectile flies further, she deals more stun on her attacks and grabs, and moves around further during her Linear Movements.

With Laura being our third brand new character, representing a brand new fighting style, you never know who’ll make it into Street Fighter V. Which fighting style do you think will be the next addition to Street Fighter V? Stay tuned and talk to you guys next time!

So she's related to Sean then since they both have the same last name. Her story should be interesting.

Gief's v-trigger takes awhile to rundown unless you do that spinning cyclone..
Interesting...
Laura seems like a stronger version of Juri now that I looked a her reveal again. Her anti air seems nice, still iffy on her though.
Alex to me is what Q was...
Those two characters were unique in 3rd strike because if I saw somebody playing with them, they were generally good with everybody[emoji]128516[/emoji][emoji]128516[/emoji]
Alex shoulder move was mad annoying but it definitely zoned characters and that flash move was good as well.
So his addition would bring nostalgia for me of playing during college years[emoji]128526[/emoji]

Thanks for this vid, repped. I wanna know what he was doing when he would just turn red and absorb the hit/projectile without being in V-trigger? How many hits can he absorb in that and how mobile is he in that state? That head butting projectiles is SO good. Just walk you into the corner and kill you, lol. No more shot scrubs online chucking fireballs and back dashing. Gief is gonna have so many good matchups and folks will finally have to deal with him and stop running! Plus he's got juggles.......OMG, I can't wait.

Rashid looked GREAT as well in that vid. That Wall of Tornado is so good. he can do SO many things. He got tons of tools to play any kind of game you want to play. Karen hits hard as ****! Her V-trigger is crazy! Just watch your life fade away.

Yep, that's gonna keep folks on their toes.

Most of the V triggers with a bar that drains are like that I've noticed. Chunks of it disappear when you hit the opponent.

When he turns red is his V-skill. It's armour that absorbs one hit and has recoverable grey health, similar to focus attacks. In V-trigger though, he can absorb any amount of hits until the bar runs out.

V-Skill: Iron Muscle
Zangief shows the true power of his body when he activates Iron Muscle. During Iron Muscle, Zangief can absorb one attack, which leaves him with recoverable health.
If players hold down medium punch and medium kick and then press a direction on the stick, Zangief will begin to slowly close in on the opponent. Upon release from the walk, Zangief flexes his muscles and hits the opponent if close enough.

I really like what they've done with him. His V-skill means he can potentially get in without losing half is life from fireballs and normals and with his V trigger, if you don't see it coming, then that's a lariat cyclone into grab,SPD or super. And he also has that air SPD as well so he's always protecting them Russian skies

Well done Capcom :pimp:.

Agree with the thoughts on Karin and Rashid as well. Can't wait to see more high level play. I think there's going to be a ton of Karin players because of her damage.

Chun, Cammy, Nash, Ken, Rashid, Birdie, Mika, V-Triggers seem to drain the fastest without touching an opponent..
But they could have adjusted the balancing from the last beta location test.
Gief's V-Trigger is literally Mecha Gief from MVC series
I know Combofiend had to have a hand in that[emoji]128518[/emoji]
It's fun to see that implemented in this game because I'm a huge Gief player and it helps just like (when the green hand was introduced) to get closer to your opponent.
He will be a problem for sure.
Damn near god like Hugo from 3rd strike..
God I hated hIm[emoji]128516[/emoji]

Only caught 1 match so far while at work, but it was some Able vs Filipinoman and his Rose.  Down to the last round of the set, both dudes had low health, Able with a wake up fierce, red focus, ultra

It was nuts.
