I feel like squatting past parallel activates dat mass, giving me a more complete exercise. If i dont go down far enough, i feel like im only working my quads.
 


Yeah man I have been coached and coached it for awhile now and have gotten advice from respected sport doctors

Some coaches especially at the lower levels want to you to squat way past parallel and others just wanted parallel

I think telling people they should break parallel is squat is TERRIBLE advice especially when his knees are tingling

He may need to look into changing his technique, which was the whole genesis of this conversation

From my years of experiences and reflection I don't think going past parallel is necessary to enjoy the benefit of the squat exercise

If you're using your quads as a cue, you're not squatting deep enough.

A really excellent squat will have you feeling it in your hip flexor, groin, and your glutes and hamstrings

You don't even know what the tingling is or what is causing it. The first thing I told him was to get his knee's checked to get a legit diagnosis.

Your hip crease should be below your knee's, breaking parallel. A-lot of times novices tend to "slam" their knee's therefore the suggestion of tempo squats or even pause squats. Those force people to not only control the squat but to slow down at the same time.

So telling someone to dismiss the essence of the movement and not break parallel is terrible advice.

It may also be that he goes too deep in the hole, which some people do in order to break parallel, causing stress on the knee's.

There are many solutions to his problems and a oly coach can probably diagnose and fix the problem, I'll bank on it.

Taking **** advice from someone that doesn't have a clue is not the solution.

Usually what causes knee issues is not tracking the knees where it's supposed to track or shifting the weight too much forward (getting on your toes, not having the weight on your midfoot/heels) or not going deep enough

Most problems associated with going too deep are back related

I totally disagree with you this subject, your advice is fundamentally wrong

I have been around this enough to have my beliefs on this subject

Yea, I can't believe he thinks changing squat depth is an instant, guaranteed cure for something that's not even diagnosed.

At this point, reading the last couple of pages is like watching the rude teach the polite about the rules of etiquette

I said its the quickest adjustment he can make or wait on a doctors appointment or his knees can continue to tingle

What im trying to tell you is that you cant say "your advice is fundamentally wrong" to someone about this topic.

It just makes you came off terribly, and that doesnt help your cause. You can make a pretty good case for your viewpoint, but once you start attacking people and telling them theyre WRONG when theres a lot of evidence that theyre not, you look a little bit childish and foolish. Not attacking you either, just telling you how it comes off.

I mean I feel it in my quads but i also feel it in my core/glutes also.

I may not squat to parallel each time but i feel great. Quads looking and built skrong too
 
So I'm about to start Intermittent Fasting with fasted cardio in the morning with a 16/8 window. I'm trying to drop about 15-20 lbs in a month. Is this possible? I don't want to lose too much muscle mass. I'm trying to get cut/lean out. Thanks in advance.

Why do you want to lose 20 pounds in a month? Are you competing?

Either way, 20 pounds won't be possible unless you're way overweight and even then, it's mostly going to be water weight. I suggest focusing on more long term goals. IF, cardio and lifting is a good start though.

Well an expert here can probably give you a more accurate response but 1-2 pounds a week is more realistic. If you do IF, eat right, mix cardio/lifting - you can see really good results in a month as a novice if you're disciplined. No miracle stuff though. Be patient. How long did you do double days for?
