Wasn't the Wonder Woman director gonna be the first and then that project got scrapped? :lol
Patty Jenkins, was it Rogue Squadron?

When I see opening night showtimes, then I'll bite.

Just focus on a good movie and solid plan before anything else. My vote is they just scrap that whole thing as a one off alternate universe.

I don't mind being uncomfortable, the best films make you feel something. Just be good coming off recent stuff.

Feel something, I absolutely agree. But uncomfortable? I can’t really think of a movie I enjoyed enough to watch more than once where I can describe myself as being uncomfortable during it.

And what would that even mean in a SW movie at this point? They’ve thrown everything they could try to stick on a wall and nothing’s been hitting.

Would uncomfortable just mean outside the normal Star Wars movie in this case?

I don't think I've ever had a particularly negative reaction to all of the girl-power-type-stuff in any Star Wars or Marvel stuff. I assume, because of the source, that this type of thing is pretty far out of context and inconsequential. Like others have said, just make a good movie, which I honestly and sadly don't expect from a director of any gender. I honestly have very little interest in a movie to wrap or continue that series of movies. I'd just prefer more interesting stories based in the universe, like Rogue One, the first couple seasons of The Mandalorian, and Andor, whether they be movies or series.

edit

ever since we got those huge hover ads, my post dont post after i type it out, frustrating

Anyone who's serious about Matt Walsh, and thinks his opinions are worth more than their weight in dog ****, aren't a serious person that needs to be involved in the future of the world.

If Star Wars can make a cogent criticism on the state of the world, and it happens to make men uncomfortable, then good ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe we can use art to enact positive change in the world again.

I don't know who Matt Walsh is and don't care and what you said sounds cute and all and you deserve all the likes for that. I honestly hope this movie does that for you and the state of the world.

Personally, just give me a GOOD STAR WARS movie to enjoy my ~2 hours with. Something that we can actually have fun discussions with about actual movie scenes instead of the virtue signaling people do when someone says anything negative and I'll be good.

Brush up on Matt. Not a great guy. And obviously a good movie is a good movie, don't need to have broad messaging for that. Don't need any message. John Wick series is great and I wouldn't look for any meaning in those, other than maybe dont abuse animals.

That said, I'm not being cute when I say people who get offended by the idea of equality (Matt Walsh) have no place in the future of the world. I assume that you, jaypesoz jaypesoz , are not Matt Walsh and have no ill feelings towards women or equality. I was not talking about you; only people who are offended at the thought that equality might be a central theme in film and weaponize incels against the film.

I think we agree on movies needing to be good for the themes/ideas presented within to even matter, or people will brush it off as pUsHiNg An AgEnDa and discounting the idea altogether. Good movie is good movie.

Yeah, I tried to word it in a way that there wasn't any way to add an aggressive context or anything since we did both seem to completely agree. I guess I just saw the clip and felt like "here we go again..." with this stuff.

I'm just at a point where all I want, is to be excited to sit down in a theater to enjoy a good Star Wars and/or Marvel movie from Disney again. And to watch content that doesn't offer any ammunition to each side of the fanbase/media extremists because alot of us are just excited to talk about movie plot points, scenes, and characters. I miss those days.

I'm confused what y'all talkin about cuz I was excited for each and every Star Wars film that has dropped.

And they've all made a ton of money (Solo the least) so that likely means folks were also excited to see them.

Mandalorian has hype.
Andor does.
Ahsoka does.

The only small complaint I have is not enough content been released yet and too many promised then cancelled projects.

I been hyped. After being hyped and watching the product, i’m mostly disappointed.

Just gimme something good where i’m excited for the future of Star Wars. I dont care who’s in it or who directed it.

We’ve had the prequel, OG, and the sequel trilogy. Right now we are getting stuff from the end of the OG leading into the sequel. I’m concerned for where the story takes us past the sequel trilogy and the characters we’re currently seeing now.

The sequels were so mishandled. This is the foundation of the franchise moving forward. It’s hard to be optimistic when the foundation of your house isn’t structured well.

They had all these great new characters to elevate these films and 💩 the bed in my opinion. I feel these new films were commercial successes not for what the movies are but what Star Wars was.
