How can you distance yourself from the last trilogy if Rey is still walking around lying calling herself Skywalker?
Ain't nobody gave her that name. Did it cuz she embarassed she's a Palpatine

Massive brain fart on my part. I completely forgot her lineage. Leia and Luke helped her, but I had it mixed up in my mind as them helping her as a relative. Totally forgot she's not blood related to them at all.

But some might say she was inspired by some female characters that will never actually show up in the SW movies.
She was Jaina. Pure and simple.
Kylo was Jacen. Jaina's twin. They were Han and Leia's twins. Jacen/Kylo turned to the dark side.
Rey/Jaina was the one who could stop him.
In the books, Jaina is trained by Boba Fett in order to give her the upper hand. Fighting as both a Jedi and a Mandalorian.
Fett views it as win win, either way, one of Han's kids dies.

Like that is what they think SW is about (to some degree).
Whole trilogy would’ve been fine without any romantic teasing or subplots.
I will die arguing it, they woulda been better off really robbing from the EU.
Cuz THEN you could really do some relationship stuff. Luke and Mara. Anakin and Tahiri. Ben and the Sith girl. (Vestara?) Han and Leia of course. Jacen and his baby momma. Jaina and Jagged Fel. Not to mention the cross functional working relationships. Dalaa, and Palleon, and Kyp, and Boba, and Talon Karde.

No way there's only 3 flicks in 2024 and one a piece in 2025, '26, and '27.

i believe they have dates that has no movies assigned to it yet and they only had 3 films last year and 3 films schedule this year too (and 2021 only had 3 marvel films too if you consider NWH a sony film) so 2024 seems to follow suit
the schedule for phase 6 had empty slots around the avenger films (probably to avoid spoilers?)
