If it's a choice, then the two matters are not the same. But you heard what they said in the video; they didn't choose to be gay, and I can't see why anyone would choose to be.

The main question is whether they choose to be or not, and we don't currently have an answer. But don't you think it's weird for a straight person to tell a gay person that being gay is a choice when the gay person obviously disagrees?

It's relevant to the debate because we're speaking on how blacks are treated vs gays. A gay person doesn't have to worry about not being hired fora job interview, being pulled over driving, or have the feeling of walking around like there's a target on them. Most gay people aren'tdisproportionally in prisons or born into extreme poverty.

You can't compare Race and Sexuality, there paralell but def not uniform in comparison.
It took years for black people to be where they are, let alone be considered human. Gay people at this point in time have what black people fought and died forgiven to them. Yeah there have been gay people for ever and they've been opressed for centuries, but when comparing a people u gotta look atnumbers...there are/were wayyy more black people in the world than gay people, making it more of an issue of not being able to accept a distinct people ofkings and nations for ages vs. A small minority that has never really been accepted, ever.

I will say that IMO Bisexuality is diff. From being gay, I think Bisexuality is done for fun/interest/attention not genetics, maybe that's where alottaarguements can be calrified or resolved?

As for the immature, ignorant, insecure NT homophobes out there, yall need to chill, theyre not piping you, your not piping them, there not imposinghomosexuality on you so stop imposing your moral or religious beleifs on them. Do your thing, let em do theirs and move on, its 2009 step ur life up

Paging BTonNT.

That dude murdered a thread about homosexuality a few years back.

He said something like, "There's an advantage in making people think that homosexuality isn't a choice."

I couldn't even get through this. Between "gay is the new black", the lady in the blue/violet coat, and the lady saying gay people wake up andchoose to be gay.. Disgusting.

I think your childish name calling makes you sound like one.

ill admit though, saying gay is the new black is kinda offensive. But you get the point they try to make.
Yes gay oppression and black oppression are very different things.
gays, for the majority of them, can walk outside freely "camouflaged" into the real world.

But they are still oppressed. that is the main connection they are trying to make.
They are still battling for their rights, sometimes beat and killed for what they believe in.
How is that not connected to what blacks experienced.

...so you want like magic gay-detecting goggles or something?
That's what I'm sayin. I get the point Cwrite is making, but what he's asking is literally impossible. It's not like people can read minds and tell if the person REALLY made a change.

To be fair, you can't prove that a person CHOSE or was BORN gay either...at least I don't think. If there is such a way, excuse my ignorance and show me the proof.

Did you make a concious decision to be straight? I just was naturally attracted to girls, I never made a concious decision to be striaght. Just always wasthat way.

SMH at the orange group lol i was rolling when he said his dad tried to beat the gay out of him hahaha

GTHOH with that crap. Homosexuals can walk around in camo and not be noticed. I am black all day everyday. Their struggle is in no way shape or form the sameas mine or my parents. A lot of this crap is becuase many hid their sexuality and moved up the chain of power until they could affect control and influence onmodern society. No where close to the civil rights movement.

lol wow someone actually remembered me and valued my opinion.

(I dosomewhat remember that argument too)

I watched the video and read a few pages of comments but Im not too interested in getting into too many long, drawn out NT debates anymore but Ill share myopinion. Although I think there is validity to that statement, that's not exactly where I'd start a debate because I do personally believe that forthe most part homosexuality is not a choice, though I also don't believe people are born as homosexuals or that it is geneticallydetermined. From my own observations and discernment, I personally believe it's largely determined by environmental influences. I see trends in a lot ofthe parent relationships from many of the people Ive known, seen, and heard speak (including at high school awareness/tolerance lectures w/ testimonials onfamily which I remember specifically, etc)...and I see that even here...the young man in the video obviously had an overly-aggressive, abusive father forexample and has/is suffering pursuant trauma...(one might suppose the claim that he was only beaten on that instance because his father discovered he was"homosexual", but based even on how obviously extreme and intense that was, Id place my prediction on the probability that he and his father had ahistory of abuse...if not physical, then emotional and at the very least we see the father was dysfunctional and so their relationship was clearlydysfunctional.) I think homosexuals are just individuals who are expressing/projecting the influences of either an overly dominant and/or an overly submissive(often manipulative) parental figure M or F in sexual relationships and just as we see in many people, are *subconsciously (*usually) driven and seeking toreplace a parental figure or to be that replacement figure in different instances...similar expressions we see in a lot of heterosexuals and the relationshipsthey pursue and create. Traumas and influences just manifest themselves differently according to individuals, circumstances, extremes, etc. I believe thecompulsion in homosexuality is about relief and release towards the subject of resentment...(and Ive personally seen behavior and examples that testifies tothis in people Ive known and their relationships). Anyhow, this is just my opinion and Im not looking to impose it on anyone or change anyone elses. But imoI definitely dont see it as logical to believe that somehow it was genetically determined for a male to have the inclination towards sexualacts with another male or female/female. A blunt ex: the penis has a clear physiological function as does the $+#!. <-- theexcretory canal
nerd.gif
After all, "homosexual" individuals arebiologically capable of procreation yet are not sexually capable (through homosexual acts)...the biological/genetic argument alwaysfalls well short to personal claims and sentiment imo.

When honestly forming an opinion, I dont think people should ignore obvious behavioral patterns and histories in individuals, including but not exclusive to"bisexuals" for example and cases of homosexuals who later regress back towards "heterosexuality" either temporarily or permanently....andthere are cases of both which speak in themselves. I don't think we can logically make a single sweeping statement regarding any entire group over anysubject matter but we can take notice of collective trends we see among sets of individuals. AND I think you have to be both compassionate andobjective. Passing judgement over anyone isn't a fair exercise unless you yourself are perfect and at the same time, taking blindly emotional stancesisn't really rational for whichever position you hold.

Anyhow, gay is not "the new black". though there are clearly instances where people try to entangle the two subjects which I see largely as apolitical manipulation (which is what I think was the focus of my previous argument). As explained, my belief is that "homosexuality" is largelybased in compensation and projection. I don't at all hate or condone hate towards any person because of their sexual inclinations or anything else forthat matter but I'm also not in line with a lot of the proposed agenda or the manufactured beliefs regarding this topic....including this currentone---that homosexuality is synonymous with race. that's just false.

so that's my opinion since I was asked.

BTon I applaud you sir. What you stated about nurture rather than nature has been one of my biggest arguments against people being born homosexual. Myexperiences growing up around certain people and experiencing and observing the type of environments they are involved in has led me to that belief. Do Ibelieve I am 100% correct? No, but this is what I have witnessed. I think science will ultimately find a distinct answer. Through two dudes I considered realcool growing up and even a female in my family and one of her friends. Not going to go into detail about why becuase in all three cases there are very distinctdifferences, but they all deal with issues brought up in dudes post.

lol at that rainbow colored hand..i think thats gonna piss a lot of people off

dude thanks for the new avy

and NO we don't want to be labeled the next blacks. we want our own individual recognition!

i wonder if that straight shirt would go with my freshwaters...

can someone explain to me how the gay struggle & the black struggle are the same... here's what gays are struggling for

Gays:
Marriage...

Blacks:
voting
education
equal pay
no segregation
no discrimination
equal rights

is marriage really that big of a deal to gay people?
