fresh thick powder >>>> everything. including back country, great mountain trails, great terrain park, whole mountain to yourself

^If it was a weekday. I rather have a whole mountain to myself and packed powder. Fresh snow on a Weekend just means large crowds and newbies doing stupid things like taking off their damn snowboard and skis and talking selfies in the middle of a run. I knocked down so many people on Sundays I would make JJ watt jealous.

:lol I pretty much was. It was pouring rain. Riding on slush. The park was closed so they put a box on the bunny hill :lol pics from the same day. Straight garbage even by mn standards. Was fun doing presses through the mud I guess.

Yeah cartels are dope bindings. I ride super cartel with a few malavita parts. Malavita baseplate and a different high back. My favorite bindings ever not getting new ones anytime soon. Too damn comfortable.

I know that feeling all too well. California was the exact same way for the last couple years. This season is definitely a blessing. A low pressure system is supposed to hit the Sierras starting tomorrow through Sunday. Supposed to bring 1-2' Driving up to Mammoth tomorrow. Cant wait.

Quick question what's everyone wearing in terms of Goggles? I've had the same Oakley Crowbars for about 9 years now. Think it's time for an upgrade. Was thinking about Electrics or even Nike. Any opinions on either?

:lol isn't it awful?

Man I've ridden powder once. I'd just eat **** all day if I was riding back country and actually going hard. :lol

Give me a park and a tow rope and I'm Gucci. As I'm getting older though and seeing 12 year old girls in the park doing 540 nose grabs off booters and 270 boardslide on the meanest rails makes me realize I'm pretty much done progressing. :lol

I'm cool with being decent these days. I'll still leave most riders in the dust ollieing off a big drop hauling *** and soaring 50ft> * it's so much fun riding with one or two dudes who are fast as hell.

A bunch of my boys were just out at mammoth going ham. Have fun dude, they got plenty of snow already from the looks of it. :hat

This is how you thread a needle at mammoth. :hat

never had the opportunity for a tow rope. I don't think Tahoe had that anywhere. I would think those would be for the Olympic level training places and what not. or the Alps.

I just like cruising when I board. small jumps and boxes and rails of course though. Two concussions on me scared me to be any more daring in my life

A pretty big injury in the park 6 years ago combined with the fact that I realized im never going to be a pro was all I needed to chill out on all that. I'm 31, my old *** doesn't need to be hucking off of 40ft booters in the park anymore. Haha I rarely even jib anymore either.

Nowadays I love sticking to steeps, bowls, couloirs, off piste and tree runs. So much fun.

Pretty much the same for me. I have hurt myself way to many times in the park, but I have yet to learn my lesson :lol

This year as been pretty good though snow wise, haven't ridden much park at all, save it for spring when there is no fresh snow.

Today was a bit of a surprise powder day, was on a 156 twin :{ but still made due. Lapped this area at Mt. Hood Meadows all day called Jacks Woods which is double blacks, had some amazing runs in the morning with some pretty blower powder. Hit some nice drops.

Went to a new area we hadn't been to before and nearly ended up on top of this chute with a mandatory 20ft drop. Was able to bail over a ridge which put us on top of a little chute that was nothing but ice with about a 5ft drop on the bottom. lost my edge and slid down the damn thing on my ***. Also had a pretty tough hike out which is never fun.

Any of you ever get any videos or footage? Normally me and my friends are too busy charging but are going to start busting out the go pro, if there is anything decent I will post it here.

I never film anything. Yeah tree runs are where it's at. So much fun in the trees. I still hit the park but I'm not progressing really. It's the same tricks pretty much on just new stuff. I mostly just casually hit rails and boxes. I'm not hitting big jump lines or anything I don't get up as quick these days. :lol

I'll forever ride casual. Just gets more chill even though I'm learning new tricks it's nothing big at all. I have the most fun just charging hills with some cool natural stuff or in the trees and finding some big drops back onto trails.

A tow rope isn't anything special for someone who's never seen them. It's just a quick *** way to get you up a little hill. We grow up with them on the bunny hill then all the parks use them. It's nice because you can get on and off the rope anywhere. So you can just focus on one rail if you want. No need to go all the way down or up it.

anyone ski (ride) Killington? Not a great year for the ice coast but that's my home mountain... always looking to meet new people

Everyone, wear a helmet whenever riding no matter how experienced you are. Just recovered from a mild concussion when I went snowboarding 2 weekends ago. if I wasnt wearing a helmet it would have been WAY worse. I've been boarding for 6 years now but took a bad fall and smacked my head hard, never expected it to happen but good thing I was wearing one :hat

Glad to hear you're ok man. I completely agree with you on this. No matter what skill level or what type of riding you do, you should always wear a helmet. Anything can happen on the mountain.

It's crazy to see sometimes. I grew up riding in So Cal and I'd say 75-90% of people on the hills down here don't wear helmets.

Now flip that to when I visit other places to ride....Park City, Whistler, Jackson Hole, damn near everyone is wearing a helmet.

It's like 10% here. All the kids wear them but the older guys don't. It's crazy to think none of the pros I know doing the sketchiest street stuff ever wear them.

I can't reiterate how important a helmet is, first time snowboarding this year and my first run and a half was abit rough since it's been awhile and I know it definitely keep my melon ok. My stiff neck on the other hand... :lol

Damn smh RIP, goes to show you it doesnt have to be a fall, a collision can be just as bad or worse

Man I broke my foot snowboarding last year, had the boots where you turn the dial to tighten it and one side was snipped. Decided to go for an "easy" day which turned into a race down the mountain with my friends and I fell over a hump in the snow. Still boarded (heeled) down the mountain and called it quits, went to my boys crib after to play 2K and didnt go to the doctor til like 3 days later. :lol

Killington is an awesome mountain. Def one of the biggest I've been to. Juggernaut is one of my favorite trails.

Heading to Telluride CO next week.

Central CO just got 3 feet last couple days, so Im hoping to find a few spots left to make fresh tracks.
Might do a little backcountry

do you have any avalanche training or backcountry experience? Beacons, probes, shovels?

Beacons and Shovels for sure. Maybe probes, but I'm not sure what my brothers bringing
Skiing for 25+ years, and Ive done some modest backcountry before. But I don't think we'll be going way off track, mostly just hikes off the resort mountain

My older brother, who Ill be skiing with, was a Ski Patroller at Mammoth Mountain

Ive been thinking about grabbing one those inflating backpacks. But it seems a bit overkill for only so many days on mountain

Alright just checking. Too many people venture out to the backcountry who are unprepared, you can be an "expert" who has been riding resorts and that doesn't mean you are qualified. Just make smart decisions and don't do something that will put you or others at risk.

I have been in 2 minor slides, both gate access areas at my local mtn that routinely get patrolled and avy bombed, they were pretty small but that snow moving really put it in perspective how strong of a force it was.

For sure
Great advice, and I appreciate you looking out. Always better to be prepared and safe with something that's supposed to be fun
