177k miles is average for a '97. I got 2 Accords, one with 290k, the other with 250k, and a Toyota with 210k. All running great. Do you people really think a car, especially BMWs are made not to last after 150k miles or something? It all depend on how the car was treated in those miles. I rather buy a car that was well maintained with 200k miles than a car that was poorly maintained with 100k miles.

My mother had a Ford Escort which ran close to 300k....the point is not that they cant go the distance, the point here, is if its worth the gamble...IMO hell NO!....but some other dudes are not afraind to invest money on a car thats been used and abused, same theory for dudes that would drop 500$+ on the grails with cracks all over the place, in hopes to be able to restored them...or not...

a.) hondas under 100k miles = at least 6-7 stacks (and thats cheap)

b.) im not looking for a car to last me forever, im looking for a 2 to 3 year type car...with no payments....after that i will hopefully have a real job and can pay a note and such again....
a.) I bought my 99 honda accord for 4300 with 88k and there were plenty of other cars in the same category that were in that price range
b.) Afterward you could easily sale the car for what you paid for it

where do you live?

4300 w 88k was a steal, imo.

Only reason I'd say not to get it is because maintenance is going to be expensive with it. Besides that, I'd have it inspected by a mechanic(or BMW) and go from there.

looking at the carfax, it was part of a corporate fleet until 2000....it was driven less than average, too. regularly serviced...i wanna go check it out.

That's a good look. Call up your local BMW dealer and see how much an inspection would cost then ask the seller if its ok if they check it out.
