but you're also lumping them all into one homogeneous group of "white" people, even though I'm sure each culture is different in their own way

if certain principles taught within black families are taught in theirs.
I think laying out some those principles would be helpful to know what you're referring to.

i was gonna come in here to say, there is a lot of different white people my man lol

What makes you proud to be white? Or is this something ya'll don't think about at all? I guess you can say this is sort of a spinoff of the WET thread but this was a totally different topic and could stand on it's own. But...go ahead...enlighten me please.
I'm sorry but this is an attack on white people in disguise. Just look at the way he's talking in his original topic. Imaginesomeone made a topic, "Black people, what exactly is your pride built on." There would be an outrage. I'm sure you're smart enough to knowalmost every ethnicty has it's completely different cultures. There's no such thing as a white person. Yeah, there's American White people, thepeople that have been here for ages. And there's the immigrants from Europe which if you're in the city you'll meet most.

Then we got European white people which are completely different than AmericanWhite People.

There are all questions the Topic Creator knows the answers to yet still makes the post. Not every white person you see on MTV's Super Sweet 16 lives likethat. Most white people I know are from Europe actually taking advantage of what this country go to offer and working their @@@!@ off.

What exactly are you getting it? Self Awareness? That doesn't even make any sense. Every human is self aware.

Basically...what foundation is your pride built on?
What everyone's foundation is built on. What your family teaches you at home plus your culture.

What makes you proud to be white?
That's like asking an asian person what makes your proud to be asian. You can't group us up like that. I'm sure you know there aredifferent cultures within the "white" race.

But...go ahead...enlighten me please.

I'm proud of certain aspects of my personality, and that's where it ends.
Couldn't have said it any better.

I see dudes just wanna argue for the sake of it now...I should have known. Once again...thanks to those with a brain and understood exactly where I was comingfrom.

Because I have an idea based on previous discussions with other ethnicities and things that I've learned growing up. I haven't heard many whitepeople...american born white people more specifically...ever mention them being proud of their race.

When I think about what I could possibly be proud of, honestly, nothing specific comes to mind.

Do we have to face some sort of struggle or oppression first, like all minorities have?

Ya'll take better care of ya'll neighborhoods and have better Christmas decorations apparently...

I'm Irish and English, don't know much about what they've accomplished in the past. I'm proud to be who I am being white makes me kind ofunique, I like proving people wrong. I know almost everything about Hip Hop, can DJ, and Dress. A lot of people wouldn't expect that from a white dude.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm Italian-American, both of my parents and grand parents were born and raised in the little italy section of nyc, my great grand parents were straightoff the boat.

There's a lot to be proud of and a lot to be ashamed of in terms of my culture, and it's a shame that Italians are glorified for the negative aspects.I absolutely hate when I see people making heros out of past organized crime bosses...like thats something to be proud of.

Not anything, really, since it's commonly accepted that it's wrong to take pride in being "white" in America. We don't struggle,we've never had to overcome anything, we're the big, bad bullies in this country and we should forever live with the shame of what ourgreat-great-great grandfathers did.

Regardless, I wouldn't have pride in my race anyway.

It only helps to define my skin color, and nothing else about me.

Might as well take pride in wearing a certain brand of clothing.

you should only be proud of something that you've earned, we have no reason to be proud of something that we were born into.

I am white.
I am irish.
I am american.
I'm proud of being white and Irish
and I don't know people that just answer "I'm white." Ohhhhh, no kidding -_-

My background is the same, put Detroit in place of Manhattan, and the fact my half my family moved here in the early 70's from a country thatdoes not exist anymore and the other half is made up of people that arrived here in the cowboy days....and I agree on the fact that as being considered"WHITE" you cannot be proud of your color....but you have to take the good with the bad....and to the OP you should have never started this...
