The Seattle Times stays trolling with the anti-arena stuff. Art Thiel said it well: just because some study claims a KeyArena remodel is FEASIBLE, doesn't mean the NBA would want that. In fact, we already know the NBA doesn't want it. It's pointless to even discuss. It was a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation for the council. If they DON'T survey a KeyArena remodel, then all the NIMBYs would complain that the council didn't do their due diligence. If they DID the survey (which they did), it opens the door to the "well, why do we need a new arena, then?!?" crowd. Again, this is why we can't have nice things here.
Anyway, I'm not getting my hopes for anything at this point. The council will likely vote to vacate the two streets, then it'll be caught up in litigation hell until the MOU expires. The only glimmer of hope for an arena is renewing the MOU, which would probably happen, considering four of the original seven "yes" votes are still in office, while the two "no" votes are gone. All they need to do is sway one person. Even then, Hansen could say "screw it", develop the land himself, and there goes any public benefit on that land.
