Remy Ma-shETHER***Nicki Minaj diss***

You people kill me. Rap battles aren't always about ending careers. If Jay didn't lose because he was still successful after "Ether", then what does that say about Nas, whose career was reinvigorated because of it? Sometimes, it's just about the songs themselves.

Inb4 "Jay won because he signed Nas to Def Jam" :rollin

nowhere did i say he didn't lose (that been a debatable topic for the past 15 years), I stated that there wasn't much backlash towards Jay & it didn't slow him down at all. Which it didn't :lol

Even those who thought Jay lost chalked that up as an L & continued to check for his/Roc's new music. At no point was there a feeling like jay might have to sit down for awhile or Jay ain't good no more. All that happened was throw another name in the Ring with him & X over who the real king of NY was at the moment.

It's no surprise the dudes who don't like ether are jay fans I've NEVER met a unbiased person who thinks jay won only his super fans

So with the mention of success after Ether for Jay and considering Nicki is more pop than hip hop at this point, what does she have to gain from responding and taking the risk of losing?

Reminds me a lot of Wayne, who was good to ignore the majority of dudes comin' at him. Like he never really went back and forth with Push no matter how many times he threw shots

At this point in my eyes she's a full blown pop artist. She's like flo rida and pitbull. This became solidified soon after her showing or lack thereof in this "battle". She can never claim "queen of rap" or even try to be on some super hip hop ****. It's a dub for that.

I'm unbiased and like both and I think Jay's songs are better

I also wasn't eight years old during the battle

Never change NT :lol

There's plenty of people everywhere who felt takeover was better. This has been an ongoing discussion since the allhiphop days.

Where do you think all the "nas lost" jokes originated from.

it's still being debated 15 years later by millions of people, but your a stan if you think Jay won.

There are some DECISIVE battles in hiphop history, this si far from it & NEITHER artist ever had a majority side thinking they won

The "Nas lost" thing came from Jay having more money than Nas which has nothing to do with a rap battle.

I wouldn't say you a stan but when dudes say Ether had no impact or it was only jokes that's Stan ****.

or maybe people think facts are more hurtful than name calling

Have you ever thought it's styles and what someone prefers?

Why do some of you try and analyze why someone doesn't agree with you.

I was Scarface, Jay was Manolo
It hurt me when I had to kill him and his whole squad for dolo

So did he kill anyone?

I didn't say it had no impact on rap culture or that it was "just" Jokes. that was someone else.

I will however 100% stand by the fact that it didn't have any Direct effect on Jay, nor did Takeover have any direct (negative) effect on Nas. Two dudes released exceptional records & continued to put out great music & make big moves after.

So unless dudes are gonna bring psychoanalysis into Jay's interviews with Angie. It literally had no effect on his career, Not from a selling standpoint, not from his credibility in rap, not on the business end. Nothing was directly effected by Ether other than knowing jay could lose in a rap battle (depending on who you viewed the victor).

Ether wasn't even an exceptional Nas record IMO. Dude has/had a lot more creative and thought provoking songs in his catalog. That song was practically dumbed down for mainstream listeners. Rhymes, lyrics, and wordplay in that song were hella basic relative to Nas' other bodies of work

This.

I never understood the argument between the different factions, neither side will convince the other.

Blueprint 2 diss was cool but the battle was over. That was after Supa Ugly. Ether ended the war and Jay tried but failed. You can like Takeover more, it's more than just a diss song but Dame and other Roc members have came out and said they all knew it was over once Ether dropped.

Blueprint 2 really should have been a single disc.

Alt Facts Jay nor Dame or Bleek ever said Jay lost, they said they knew Nas came with some fire **** tho.

Dame went on Breakfast Club and literally said they lost tho :lol

He's also said multiple times they were undefeated up until that point
