Idk what those numbers you posted are supposed to mean. A lot of those artist simply aren’t game, and weren’t aiming to do what he’s doing. Those are also wildly different projects. Like Eminem Curtain Call…and Game new album aren’t the same thing
. So the comparison is just off.
Also, the “hottest in the city” or “next up” type cats typically do that, until the machine behind them and social media stuff. That’s the way it works.
Game selling next to a 20 year old album in week 2, just does look bad. No way around it. Considering who he is, and the features/marketing/singles he had on there.
It’s a
disappointment. And he and his peoples will tell you that. Even Wack said so. But a disappointment with sales, does not mean he makes bad music, or is a failure.
It’s just the reality of where he is now. And MAYBE, he should consider a different approach, if he wants to be seen in a certain light (which he obviously does)
It’s been obvious for years that legacy rappers have smaller fanbases and move smaller units without the machine etc. But it feels like game still has parts of the machine, but can’t connect.
