Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Ppl were telling DaBaby to be easy for a min now.

He should take the time off. Figure out a new flow and come back harder. His rise to the top was quick he can get there again.

As a ***** who remembers when people on campus were putting me on to “Baby Jesus” his problem was running the same flow and sounds into the ground way before #They pressed the button on him…

Most rappers use the same flow. I always feel like that excuse is a cop out. The music just wasn’t hitting as a whole.

I mean same thing happening to Uzi and Roddy. To an extent same thing happen to Migos and they still have to do subtle Travis Scott type ad libs and **** to this day :lol

Everyone eventually has to switch it up if you come in the game running a certain sound in the ground

Did he give a reason for the album title?

The album cover sucks also. Glad we no longer have to buy CD's. Not that I would buy it anyway.

Fam what really count as good now. Game did a quarter of what Khaled did. Khaled did a third of what Kendrick did. Isn't this to be expected?

That **** Future just had his highest debut ever . It’s only a few that really got the juice to move Units right now.

Drake
Kendrick
Cole
Future
Lil Baby
Travis

Gunna/Thug was right there. 21 probably too. Durk getting there.

Anything from 150K and up is good in this climate. Whatever that means. But we all know who cuts through

DaBaby was hot for a min but 500 tickets is local status … my guy went from a local to superstar back down in 3 years .

Damn …

Did y'all ever have any pirate radio stations in your city that you listened to?
In Houston in the late 90's these 2 dudes Dirty and Gucci they used to hijack one of the stations that was usually static on Friday nights. I'll never forget getting my blank tape ready for them to play Soulja Slim's album front to back

By our, I'm trying to figure out if the dumb *** meant black people or immigrants. I heard he was half ******ed and a special ed short bus kid, so I'm not sure.

It still confused me how Busta and Fat Joe became some sort of elders and statesman in hip hop.
Huh?

we could not agree with them w/o trying to discredit them, Busta & Fat Joe have had succesful careers spanning 30 years at this point, and were heavily involved in every aspect of hiphop culture before the money was even a thing.

In regards to this whole FBA/Black immigrants **** that's been boiling over, I can't believe they let Tariq start this. **** looking real agentish  . whenever you start building this heavy divide & start antagonizing the opposite view, it steers people towards doing the same towards you & nothing really changes much.

Can’t think of any in NY or LA, but I spent a couple of weeks in Miami as a teen and they were somewhat prevalent in the area.

I remember hearing cursing on some stations and didn’t know what the hell was going on :lol

Then a friend explained the concept of pirate radio.

Apparently they were a huge thing out in the UK as well.

They've been in rap for 30 years, but hip hop existed for 20 years before them.

They aren't the end and be all in hip hop and all knowing.

People need to stop grouping those two goofies as some sort of pioneers as if their voice holds weight, because they are just in the spotlight more than other rappers from the 70's and 80's.
