Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I was in my early teens when Pac was alive and dude was legit an icon already.

Napoleon said that Pac was about to transfer more to the acting side and running his own label. He was even supposed to get that part Will Smith played in Independence Day.

He was supposed to get the Baby Boy role too right?

Dude really was moving for real.

Directors were LITERALLY writing future roles with pac in mind. They were tailoring characters with him in mind. Dude was an A-list actor and top rapper at that time.

N_ literally was Deion/Bo Jackson. 2 sport star…

He laid the blueprint for all that hip hop crossover. Of course you had rappers acting in the 80s too. Like the Fat in disorderlies and whatnot but Pac changed the game

He’s a Rap Legend u can’t tell the history of rap without mentioning him he literally resurrected an entire coast and style of rap.
His discography is better than dudes that people consider legends.
What was the point of the question then?

Sounded like the term mean a lot more 2 Yu because I agree but not to that extent. Hard to credit him alone for resurrecting the West when Snoop was still doing numbers around the time.
Discography overrated too but I know NT opinion on that so ok cool

Is The Game a legend?
Serious question
No.

No classics. Arguably no timeless songs. Lyrically not at the top.

When Game comes to mind what you think he's most known for? 300 bars?/Bipolar beefing with everybody?

The answer is always lying and making up wild stories.

Really ain't been **** without Curtis and/or Dre.

Which (established) legends is he better than? 8o

Who discography better….. Curt or Jayceon???

If y’all want to crown 50 a “legend” for his moment…. I mean okay. His “moment” lasted all of 3 years.

50 can be Terrell Davis or Gayle Sayers….

Game is Marcus Allen for his consistency then. All in the HOF….

Game is a a bipolar clown 70% the time but the man been relevant MUSICALLY for 15 years. C’mon. And I can’t stand bruh really but he, like Rick Ross both lapped 50 cent like 200 times already

Ninja Bye

Ice Cube can’t sell out anything is he not a legend?
That's wrong tho.

Ice Cube sold out plenty venues.

Can't just shift the time period and say so and so can't sell out something today.

Run DMC probably cant sell out MSG on their own today. Are they not legends?

Sold out performances isn't the barometer for who is a legend.

Ice Cube cannot sell out anything in 2022
Irrelevant.

That’s what was said tho the man stated a legend should be able to sell out a venue.

That’s simple not true

Game definitely a legend in rap. Hate it or Love it is still a classic song, One Blood was big.. dude’s made great albums.

The Pac slander is wild but of course we’re all entitled to an opinion. Doesn’t mean it isn’t wrong though lol. I think you would have to remember the era when he was at the top and his passing, everything stopped when the news made it’s rounds. I don’t think Pop Smoke (no disrespect, R.I.P.) had people all over the world crying over a person they’ve only heard on wax.

Things disregarded when debating Game discography:
1. Name-dropping (to the point of no shame)
2. Feature-heavy
3. Swagger-jacking
4. Blatant disregard of throwaway albums: Blood Moon, Streets of Compton & Gang Wars

With features, always felt like he was in competition with every guest and a lot of times he won.

The name dropping was fly sometimes, goofy other times

It’s the internet, everybody’s lying
