wavy got some sense after all :lol

So who is really independent with some type of success nowadays? Like not no speculation or we think ****, who's confirmed Indy and doing good for themselves

Future being one of the two most streamed artist in music is crazy considering he's still essentially a street artist who hasn't sold out and ****** over his core fanbase. Son literally makes street gospel with crossover appeal which no one else is doing as successful as he is. He ain't white, ain't Jewish, don't have some billionaire weirdo with his hand holding his pocket, not a sucker *** *****, etc. Respect and props to Super

The closest he came doing that was Honest, then he immediately went back to his real stuff :lol

Remember when Budden said Future and Young Thug were on the same stardom tier

He takes shots at future every chance he gets. Has nothing to do with the show. He's probly salty that future hasn't even acknowledged the buffoonery though

look at everyday struggle and remember all things that were said

everyone that he slandered was on the show very soon after

only difference is future never acknowledged him at all so he never stopped

the minute future would’ve stepped foot on the show joe would’ve professed his love affair for how amazing future and his career is

Bro theres no reason for an artist that already has a fanbase or the talent to gain fans in this era to sign to a label if they have the money or resources for studio time/photo shoots. This is isn't the 90,s/80,s when studio time and photo shoots and product placement for advertisements cost thousands of dollars. And even then you had independent rappers back then making 6-7 figures a year. I know alot of people in the game bro. Yall are correct about some of these artist lying about being independent before gaining a fanbase. But they really dont have to do that. Alot of these artist are just young and scared bro. Studio time from engineers that i know range from $25.00- $500.00 an hour. From a range of hood studio,s to top quality studio,s. Photo Shoots range from Free- $1000.00. $800.00-$1500.00 being the photographers who deal with your favorite artists. Videos range from $500.00- $7,000.00.

And also stay in regular hotels when your doing shows. You dont have have to over spend to keep up an image. Remember that this a hustle. Build relationships, spend less, make more. Plus it's all about relationships. The more successful you are,and the longer you build up these relationships with people. The cheaper the prices will get for you. Plus the cost for putting your music/ videos on YouTube is not high. Putting your music on these streaming services aren't high. These new young artist dont have the courage to break the mold of the old traditional way of thinking that i need to sign to a label. In the music game theres pimps and ho#$. The label is the Pimp. We all know what the artist are. Can't nobody on here convince me that a label is needed in today's era. Even the bigwigs like Jimmy lovine know that. The internet along with technology is steadily progressing.

There won't be a need for labels in 10 years from now. Because with the progression. Its going to keep getting easier for the artist to create and push there material without so much of a high cost or needing a label. I seen artist like Master P,Baby and Slim,3-6 Mafia,Slim Thug,Dj Screw make 6-7 figures a piece a year independently. Each member of 3-6 made that in 90,s without a label deal. Without being promoted in magazines and on T.V. heavy in the 90,s. Then when these artist decided to deal with these labels. They made the labels partner up. Instead of just signing over everything. I get it. Up front money is attractive when your broke. These young artist shoot a couple of videos with a couple of mixtapes that do good numbers. Labels throw them a bag because they dont have the patience to build up there business like our older independent legends did in the 90,s did.

So they lie to the public about being independent. Most people/artist are scared of a big change like labels not existing anymore. Its going to happen soon when bigger names do it. The game is to be sold not told.

If yall like being signed to a label because its easier for the financial side to be taken cared of while a company baby sits you. While in return for that company to forever own the rights to the music you created by loaning you money that most of these artist have to pay back. Then just say that. There's no need for a label today. When you can record and just put your material online without any hassle. Alot of these artist couldve built dynasty,s if they had any type of hustle about themselves.

You spend the money you make off streams/shows on your artist/merch/New music. Then repeate the process. The next set of Nelly,s,Keefs,50,s,Stakes that are come out hot. That refuse to sign and do there music without alot of hands in there pockets are going to change everything entirely. If most of the artist of today woke tomorrow doing there business independently selling there music online without dealing with these labels. Then the labels would fade out real quick. Labels are an old business model in selling music.

The members on here that are signed or working for a label in some capacity are going to come in here and defend the reason why a label is needed. I seen artist do it without a label and are still getting residual checks in the mail today while there in there 40,s and 50,s. They weren't huge/big national artist with 50 Top ten billboard songs. But they defenately where financially successful with a label.

word, cats in here trying to downplay Cardi B in here..why? :lol

Nicki type effed her self into a corner, all those features she's doing is cool, but Cardi B can go tit for tat with her, and she bilingual so Cardi Jumping on all those flaming Dembow/reggaeton smash hits and got Nicki having to follow suit :lol

Nicki better act like its 2007 and drop a fire *** mixtape....like now.

thats cool but at least give *****s some type of back end

*****s out here selling beats for less than a Large McDonalds combo though

the value of this **** is all messed up

producers would be better served to sign under artists instead of being soldiers of Fortunes...all those producers that got hot under brick squad got caked up directly from gucci first...got their notoriety up, then played da field, not da other way around.

it would behoove producers to also learn how to DJ so they can earn every day put food on da table money.
