What’s funny about the legend talk, is that sometimes it might be a combination of how the artist lifestyle was, mystery about them (alot of older artists had because it wasn’t any social media back then), hometown love, and regional support. Sometimes it’s not based off of album sales alone. You can’t tell people in NY Big L or S. Bundles or Max B arent legends , you can’t tell Houston people that pimp c, slim thug, or fat pat arent legends, you can’t tell people in the Bay that e-40 or Mac Dre aren’t legends, or people in Kansas that Tech 9 isn’t a legend, or people in Memphis that L.Infamous or Skinny Pimp arent legends.
I feel like saying the word legend isn’t being spoke about in the right definition up in here like it should. You have to have like a folklore Essenes about you in some form, not just be a successful artist because your talented at spitting. Drake, and Kendrick, and Cole are musical legends, so call them that. Being called a legend by itself is a totally different ball game in my opinion. It takes having a life story, ups and downs, back to being up again, obstacles, mysterious crazy true stories that These individuals went through.
Watching someone like Drake that was on a tv as a teen, then becomes a star at a young age without really going through anything like pac or big, is not really a legend in my opinion, he’s a musical legend though, no denying the talent. But I don’t think people would clammer to the movie theater to see his life story like it was something we needed to do no matter what. That’s the difference between being a real life bonified legends versus just being a musical/rap legend. Your life story has to have something crazy behind it in my opinion.
