Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Naw disagree, they don’t have the same sound of course but the same people who are checking for Yg are checking for Travis first and NOT vice versa.

Go look at social media , everybody is literally saying “I’ll get to YG after, YG gotta wait , etc.”

Travis has a broad fan base that includes Yg fans

Not doubting that. But Travis' overall popularity has always been overrated. He's never been a huge first week seller. He's more of a slow burn artist. He's not someone you move a album date for.

And it's not like YG is a huge seller either.

I disagree. Of course there will be overlap but their fanbase it totally different. Travis got everybody listening. That white kid fanbase. YG got fans who more into commercial/street ****

I think Y’all basing **** off of their images lol. Idk about street dudes and who they rock with because that’s not my crowd .

But A lot of the hipsters /suburban dudes /regular *** ****** as myself rock with Yg heavy (and also rock with tracks). YG is dressing like this / got a stylist for a reason and that’s is to help crossover.

I’m a fan of Yg and haven’t listened yet because i keep Playing Travis. Idk if y’all have twitter or not but I’m not the only one.

No matter who your audience is , it wasn’t good to drop today imo. It’s the exact same **** as when Pusha and rocky dropped lol

****** just not too excited for new YG cuz he keep dropping trash tracks. Travis Astroworld hype been building for a minute and him being with the most popular of the Kardashian’s klan at he moment helps even more. Everybody from the his father/mother in law caite to street dudes gonna be posting his ****.

but both Pusha and Rocky sold decently. They did around the same thing Travis last album did.

and it was more about the attention around Pusha/Drake that took the attention from Rocky. Rocky fans still knew about the album and it's sales showed it. Travis isn't a Drake or Kanye.

The intersection of YG and Travis isn't that big to affect their streaming numbers. Sure some are going to be listening to Travis for the next week, but I doubt they were huge YG fans to begin with.

When Ross comes out, I'm listening to that. It doesn't matter what else is releasing. If I'm a fan of that artist. Same when Dave East dropped his mixtape last week. It doesn't mean I'm just listening to that. But I'm still going to listen to it. So if you are a YG and Travis fan, I'm sure you will listen to both.

People ran from a thread, because they didn't want to read anything negative about someone they're a fan of?

You should be able to back up the **** you say. That's more of the problem.

A lot of those really ride or die Drake fans haven’t crawled out the Drake thread yet, and it’s been WEEKS since Son of Adidon and Scorpion dropped :lol :lol

I can’t mess with this Travis Scott dude at all. I’m probably too old

His music is a compilation/impersonation of everything that's hot. He's another _ who I don't need to check for, I've heard enough to know what he's on. I actually liked Birds In The Trap at first but it had no replay value.

Bruh made no sense. :lol

It doesnt matter anymore when ****** drop. I played both. It's that simple. Just because people choose to listen to Travos first dont mean nothing. I listened to Baka, YG then Travis. Nobody sales will be affected because of this. YG gon sell what he sell because of the lack of singles. Travis gon sell because of the hype.

Twitter dont mean much. My timeline is different than your timeline. Which is different compared to others

YG just isn't a big artist. His last album wasn't huge, this album won't be huge. He's more a singles guy. This new album already has a platinum single, don't think he has any other hits on it.

Overall it's cool, a few songs were a reach for the current sound. He gotta stay true to himself. Hardest song got his homie on it and he's trash.

Biggest problem for me is his first album is a classic and he's not talented enough to come close to a classic again. I also think he's drugged out now.

Nah I disagree. Nobody has Travis sound. He sounds like himself. Earlier on his career, he bit heavily off of Cudi, Ye and Future a little bit.

And these short attention span, new hip hop fans ain't sitting on a album for 2 weeks or something. If YG and Travis share some of the same fans they'll listen to one 3:00 and the next at 4:00. All that "so and so has to wait..." stuff is just internet sayings.

With that said this YG album starting HARD as a MFer.  :pimp:

Yeah, we gon disagree on that.

I skimmed that YG **** and it wasnt it. His projects are regressing really bad

I like that new YG a lot more than the singles had me feeling like I would. I do wish it had a few more "Bomptown Finest", "Too Brazy", and "Deeper Than Rap"s though.

Travis Scott got a song on this album that’s literally a remake of Gunna/Lil Baby - Sold Out Dates :lol Beat, Flow, Gunna feature everything lol

Bruh just announced an arena tour tho damn

I was talking with someone about Rapper and their live performance.

A lot of it is lack lusting...NAS is a terrible performer.

These are some of the best entertainers as it relates to hip hop I've experienced.

Man...if you ever get the chance peep a Freddie Gibbs show.

His energy on stage is crazy.

I hate when n_ say Travis bit Future, tay1 tay1 When they came on the scene at the same time. Travis BEEN using his sound. And he never try to put on like he street dude/goon.

Travis has always been unique. Even in this era...
Travis is WAS clearly inspired by Kanye, Cudi, and Pharrell. Stop it man
