Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Why was he depressed?
Thought his mom didn’t love him.

Thought he was a failure.

Also sounds like he felt like a piece of **** because of some of the grimey things he use to do

And of course “fat, black and ugly as ever...”

He been in since 2010 right
So not bad
Damn he gonna be washed when he come home :smh:
He woulda been killin it right now if he was out........and drug free

He was sentenced in '12. But his son said last year that he should be out this or next year. I doubt it tho.

They like 10 years too late with this. ****** dont play games anymore

Ehh I'm done with all that. All the new **** wack. I retired at the apex of Modern Warfare 2 *YeShrug*

I don't think picking a city makes sense anymore like it did in '04 with Fight For NY, but ATL is the only one that would make sense.

Virtually no chance of it touching FFNY, especially the roster; but I'd take a new one.

Speaking of Pun. His verse on john blaze might be the best ever

Pun was so ill. He's underrated to me. I listen to Pun a lot.

Who y'all have as 2nd best verse on John Blaze?

I liked Jadas

I go back and forth beween Nas and Jada

Nicki pushing her **** back another week. This release has been so garbage that she has to use the ultimate cheat code of counting your sales tickets as album sales

She's done. She's like Jeezy when he stopped being a platinum rapper and Def Jam kept pushing back his project hoping to get steam. They just need to put it out and it is what it is. They're not going to get what they used to, so they need to cut losses. She's not hot anymore.

Dudes always talkin pac or biggie but Pun could rap circles around them dudes especially pac

I strongly disagree with the Big statement.

I think he's better than Big L though.

Pun was an elite lyracist wordplay was god level but he damn sure wasn't rapping no circles around big. Son is like 5/5 in every category when it comes to rapping

Yep

So nobody was gonna @ me when real Hip Hop was getting discussed?

I was thinking earlier. Big L, Pun and BIG all had two albums of original material. Is Big L underrated? Big L was nice as ****. I don't think he gets placed high enough, I guess that's cause he didn't have the commercial success the other two had. I also got Pun ahead of BIG. Pun is like 6 or 7 on my list.

I think L has become overrated in death, and Pun underrated.

For all the attention L gets Lord Finesse should get. L was a X-Rated Finesse.

Funny how people would have you thinking that “emotional” rap that deals with mental issues is a new trend.

Listening to those first 2 albums you find out real quick that BIG was depressed as ****.

I actually don't think he was depressed until after he had money.

I think he was happy during the first album, because he had "made" it. But he was talking about typical stuff being in the streets and the emotions that went with it. Second album I think he realized it wasn't what he thought it was going to be. I wouldn't consider that depression, but I lived that where you didn't think you were going to live to 25...sooooo.

I think his marriage was him wanting to have a stable life and have a mother figure to provide a stable life. But she was in the industry too. Dude got married mad fast and wasn't ready. I always think dudes who get married love what it symbolizes and do it because that's what they think the should do. Plus Biggie never had a father, so he wanted that white picket fence since he the money. I don't think the Tupac issues helped and getting hate from people for no reason. Just because they were fans of Tupac.

Def Jam out here teasing like they plan on making another Def Jam fight game.
Don't play with my emotions like that Def Jam.

Man I just watched that Lyor Cohen breakfast club, hate this dude with a passion but he be saying some real **** and he was 1000% on point when he was talking about _’s wanting to run to XYZ ATL strip club to do a lil trash walk thru-“show” that requires minimal thought and effort for that quick 15-20k brown paper bag vs focusing on doing ticketed shows and actually cultivating their live performance and hard ticket.

Then be tryna book a tour but got no real numbers to talk these ppl with :smh:

Gotta damn near put hands on _’s out here to try and get them to understand that concept, dudes just don’t care about the long game and sustainability when they getting to it right now.

And it’s not just in ATL, NYC and _’s like Juelz come to mind. Seem like bruh just set back and played that lil market for years
