Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Big Sean got the ability to make a very great album, maybe a classic

He just needs to take his albums to that next level

‘Detroit’ showed he’s fully capable of making a classic if he wanted to
Was bumping Detroit on the way back to GA from NC. Still a classic tape!

Did anyone **** with the NY remix of Swag Surf? I had that **** on repeat heavy. Fab, Maino, Juelz and Red Cafe. I played it this morning, still **** with it

I don’t rock with Wayne too tough, but his version of Swag Surfin >

No Ceilings is the only Wayne project I ever listened to in its entirety.

Either way, somebody gotta get Flex the **** outta here. I don’t care how they do it, but someone gotta make room for new DJs in NYC. Funk Flex still being that guy is kinda ridiculous. Even Red Alert wasn’t as out there and involved as Flex is right now. Get this ***** outta here, man.

So NYC never rocked w Swag Surf? :nerd:

I was expecting bruh to drop a banger and then it’s Before I Let Go

Nah we do. That joint still go. Dj’s seem to use it a lil later in there set when they trying to hype the crowd up before they go back to the reggae music.

Facts. The fact that younger DJs aren’t being given a chance to elevate due to the older guys clenching on to their spot for dear life stands to hurt the city in the future. Whenever I’m back up top, I’m always surprised to see that Hot and Power aren’t cultivating new personalities like they should in 2018. I’ll see them give a new face some 5 minute online spot, but I don’t see them putting them out there to get a bigger look. Think that had something to do with why Scottie Beam split.

Maybe someone can answer this for me, if those guys in that video felt that negatively about Funk Flex, why did they pay him to come and DJ their event?

The anger and ensuing tweets makes it sound like they've felt a way about Flex for quite some time now and Racks on Racks on Racks just happened to be the final straw.

Or am I missing something?

Before dudes get in their sensitivity bag, that rant was moreso towards Flex rather than Southern music being played. It's just that a lot of the younger cats feeling is that flex isn't really in tune with what the younger generation wants & playing Racks is kind of representative of that (although personally i've seen flex enough live & in clubs to know that he very well knows how to move a crowd).

As far as the "getting Flex Outta here" goes, i'm tired of that angle, Old Dudes ain't been moved out the way because The "new" talent ain't prove enough. Flex does a lot of Clown **** but at the end of the day he's put in WORK, that **** don't get erased because some young ****** want in. You want that spot you gotta Demand it with better work & not a lot of dudes have done that.

Spinking & Self are Two DJ's who are moving w/o trying to "take The Crown".... You put in work & you gonna get your looks. And the thing with a lot of these new NYC "influencers" is that they are just as biased as the Regime they Aim at, It human nature to Worry About your own clique & try & put on your associates. With that said if your gonna complain about flex you got to Push the best joints out the City even if you don't **** with them that heavy
